See? Plot "holes" might just have explanations (now or later). I still, however, want to play the role of Mr. Vickers in the prequel and am lobbying to have it made.......and I'm pretty sure there is a Mr. Vickers because, if there wasn't, all of those board of director types would've been alerted to the fact that there was conflict between Weyland and Vickers and that would have been bad for business.....so this whole movie makes no sense at all :roll eyes:

Unless I get to be Mr. Vickers.

The only thing that irritated me with Prometheus was
[Show spoiler]the biologist. His character was so ineptly handled that it still leaves me scratching my head.

Here you have this guy who studys the process of life for a living, yet wants to run away from the first extraterrestrial mankind has even encountered (and it's friggin dead!). Then, as redlettermedia put it, "when he encounters a sketchy looking space penis later on, he puts his face in it."

What is mind boggling about all of it is how easily these scenes with this character could have been corrected and had the exact same results.

Here's how easy all of this this was to fix:

Geologist (scared): "I like rocks, not dead bodies! I'm outta here!"
Biologist: "Shit, Geologist Guy shouldn't wander off alone. I guess I'll go with him. You people better save me some samples!"

later on...

Geologist (scared): "That looks like a ****ing snake! Stay away from it!"
Biologist: "Are you kidding? This is an alien life form, the first ever discovered alive. We have to take it back to the ship."
Geologist: "Screw that."
Biologist: "Here, hold this specimen box open for me. I'll use this stick and try to pin down the head and then grab it like a snake. Yeah?"
Geologist: "No. ****ing. Way. There is no ****ing way I'm going to help you get that thing."
Biologist: "Hey, who came out here and got lost with you? Who's your pal that's been looking out for you? Me. Come on and do me this one favor."
Geologist: "Fine."

So easy to fix, so mind baffeling that they didn't.

Yea, I tried that with the prequels too, very similar results.

I really wish that they had made a movie novel for this one. A L I E N and ALIENS versions were favorites of mine.

I missed the reasoning to that one.

Exactly. Caesarian is in the
[Show spoiler] Medpod's list of programmed procedures. Weyland's stasis chamber was in a room adjacent to Vicker's quarters, which is also the luxury escape pod. The Prometheus is the Flagship of the Weyland Corp.

It is conceivable that Weyland was put in stasis, on board, before Vicker's decided to take the trip. So, while Vicker's knew Weyland was aboard, he did not know she was there. David just didn't mention her presence during his periodic discussions with Weyland.

Thats hilarious and when you think of it that way the Prometheus crew and their actions make more sense. Hiring a decent crew was a budget cut apparently.

I thought that it would have been a whole more than that.

So it's about halfway to breaking even then as $140 was about it's budget.

So...do you guys think that a sequel is worth a try if they decide to do it?

[Show spoiler]It just seems to me that the continuing storyline would be very difficult considering where they were headed as Shaw would be the human involved. Like I said previously, it would make for a great novel, but a filmed movie???

So what are your guys opinions on the doability of a sequel?

$65,333,228 domestic / $158,069,945 worldwide (as of Wed)

Should be at $100 million domestic / $200 million worldwide after this weekend, which will place it at the top of the franchise:

Domestic (Unadjusted)
1 Aliens Fox $85,160,248
2 Alien Vs. Predator Fox $80,282,231
3 Alien Fox $78,944,891
4 Prometheus Fox $65,333,228
5 Alien 3 Fox $55,473,545
6 Alien Resurrection Fox $47,795,658
7 Aliens Vs. Predator - Requiem Fox $41,797,066

Worldwide (Unadjusted)
1 Alien Vs. Predator Fox $172.5
2 Alien Resurrection Fox $161.4
3 Alien 3 Fox $159.8
4 Prometheus Fox $158.1
5 Aliens Fox $131.1
6 Aliens Vs. Predator - Requiem Fox $128.9
7 Alien Fox $102.9

Prometheus is currently projected to take $130 million domestic / $300 million worldwide (still has quite a few countries to debut in)

Religious references saturate this film. I'm not sure why this isn't discussed more. The biggest revelation for me is that the
[Show spoiler] Engineers venerate and apparently worship the Xenomorph!

http://dejanno.files.wordpress.com/2...prometheus.jpg

http://media.photobucket.com/image/p...us5/mural2.jpg

The xenomorph mural is above an
[Show spoiler]altar with a green crystal on it. The murals on the ceiling evoke the Sistine Chapel. The mural itself is a crucifixion scene. In some images of the mural, there appears to be a stylized image of the Xenomorph rising into the heavens. Ridley has described the Engineers as Dark Angels. They ritualistically sacrifice themselves, willingly, by drinking from what appears to be a Communion Cup

This weekend has the potential to be big because of that factor alone. I'd say that this weekend will be the most critical for Prometheus during it's theatrical run.

As for the sequel, I say yes, because it's obvious to me that we only got half a story with this film, which tells me the other half is either already written or at least has all the major details fleshed out. They just need to bring another writer or two in to polish it a little better this time. I had no problem with the open-ended nature of the film, but a small portion of the dialogue and situations needed a little fine tuning.

And if there were any, Ridley needs to let go of any yes men that might have been on the set with him this time, and hire someone that will challenege his decisions.

...and please oh please leave the Space Jesus reference OUT!!

I didn't stay through the credits, but I saw somewhere on here someone blibbering on about a date appearing at the end of the credits. Do we know for sure he hasn't already filmed it back to back?

If not, then did someone explain what the date was?
