![]() . Actually being so long ago I had forgotten about post-surgery pain. So the funny thing is that I was wondering why they were still showing her doubling over in some of those scenes. Then that post just reminded me of it. LOL.

As you, I didn't know anything about the concept we are discussing though until I came into this thread. But, reading what Scott said made me realize that this film was meant to be much bigger conceptually. |

Just to clarify, I'm not trying to start a debate on religious merit. I'm simply trying to discuss the nature and further expression of the concepts of the film based on what the director himself has said regarding the issue.

True it's not that far ahead but how far has medicine advanced in the last 80 years. I'd say it advanced by leaps and bounds, and could possibly do the same over the next 80.
I mean heck they had a machine capable of doing pretty much any surgery necessary. You'd figure there's been plenty of advancement in drugs as well. Not saying it's right but it makes it easier to suspend the disbelief. |

Some of you are very selective when it comes to suspension of disbelief. No problem with hypersleep pods and FTL travel in space? This is not our universe. Is it so far fetched to believe that pain killers without side effects could be developed by 2093? I think a reasonable amount of distress was exhibited by Shaw before she put on her suit. You do know that suit has some interesting properties, right? From the Weyland Corp timeline:
Advanced SE Suits Significantly upgraded space suit includes a variety of Weyland patented features, such as cadmium exo-skeleton; info display with mission details; vitals: environmental stats and more. August 11, 2064 There have obviously been upgrades and improvements made to the suits by 2093. ![]() |

Did you read my post about that?
Here's another take on what Prometheus is about: http://io9.com/5919306/one-theory-th...-in-prometheus |

I'm just freakin getting tired of explaining Promethues to people who didn't understand this movie at my work place. I give up, if people want to believe that Prometheus is a DIRECT LINK/Prequel to Alien then so be it. Frankly I'm tired of this ignorance of some people who just don't pay attention. I'm moving on now to other things now. I'm done talking about Promethues for now on.

[Show spoiler] Add to it that there were numerous rumors that this, indeed, was a prequel in the beginning, and you have the ingredients for confusion within the average movie-going public. I mean, the title sequence was even like "Alien"! Not everybody reads up on the tiny details or hangs out in forums, y'know? Hell, it kinda confused me! I went in expecting "not a prequel", and was smacked with all sorts of images and references from "Alien"! Could NOT get the wife to understand that this was a standalone film BECAUSE of all of that. I kept getting, "Why is so much the same?", "But they had the alien ship!", "Why was that big guy from the chair in it, if it wasn't connected?" and [Show spoiler] I do believe if the writers made up their mind on what this movie was from the start, BEFORE any writing took place, folks wouldn't have been so confused.(Not related to the poster above) As to my gripe with [Show spoiler] , I'm alot like Roger Ebert in that regard. He gets upset when a movie, like "The Bucket List", features people with cancer, yet they seem to have zero side effects except when the audience needs to be reminded that these characters are sick. So they show a quick shot of them puking inbetween all of the extraordinary things they're doing that no real cancer patient would have the strength to do. Since I've kinda been through what she had, I just knew that her actions afterwards were physically impossible after an even more extreme procedure. No, I didn't have a problem with "hypersleep pods or FTL travel in space", because those are a staple in sci-fi. Like I typed, it didn't take away my enjoyment of the rest of the movie, that part of it just had me goin' ![]() |

[Show spoiler] . Are you typing that you've never had a moment where you cried "Bullplop!" during a movie? Especially when it's something you're familiar with?
