Bummer, an extra 18 minutes or more (much more to make it a much more satisfying movie) would have made the purchase much more likely for me.

Is the extra footage integrated or are they just bonuses. I hate watching deleted scenes separately.

That's a shame if those specs hold true come release date and there's no extended cut. It's still a day one purchase for me, but it's definitely a lost opportunity; and didn't Scott say there were 30 minutes worth of deleted scenes?

In any case, it still looks like a great package. Can't wait!

This news doesn't necessarily rule out a "directors/extended cut" for the US release, all it shows is what has already been reported on the main regarding what extras will be included in the French release

omg that is great and fits right in with the general sexuality that these movies are famous for.

I seriously hope FOX doesn't make me buy the Alien Anthology again just to have the 3D version of Prometheus...because I will if I have to.

CURSE YOU, FOX!!!

SWEET! I just found out that Ian Whyte, the guy who played the Engineer in Prometheus, is going to be at AdventureCon in Knoxville, TN on 10/13 and 10/14...I will definitely be getting him to sign my Blu-ray copy of the movie

I just came back from the theater a couple of hours ago, after seeing 'Magic Mike'...

[Show spoiler]

Psych!

No, but I just saw 'Prometheus' and after being afraid of it being kind of "meh", I was actually quite impressed by it.
The special effects are amazing, although not perfect, I also saw it in 3D (by lack of choice) which was actually also impressive although not perfect either.
Well, probably it's partially to blame on my eyes, but I think there were sóme imperfections.
Another thing that annoyed me is that I think that the filters made it a bit warmer and greener.
Cause without the glasses it would all look a bit whiter and fresher, which was a little disappointing, but oh well.
Otherwise, I loved the 3D, it really made me feel like I was there and sometimes even wearing the helmet when they'd show that perspective.
You know, how they have the little screens on the inside and stuff and how they really stand out with 3D and all that, just great for stuff like that.
And also all the holographic devices and things like that, this should be an amazing 3D Blu-ray to demonstrate with.

Anyway, I also quite liked the story or the plot, except at some points it's a little sudden and jumpy.
And since the title of this thread warns for spoilers, and thus this is again a warning, I'll just go ahead with talking about it:
Before the scene where Shaw goes to get a caesarean, which by the way is one of the most visually impressive and shocking scenes I've seen in a long time,
it annoyed me that, first of all
[Show spoiler], she realized so fast that whatever was in her "wasn't good" and she wanted out of her immediately,
without even considering that maybe after "last night" she COULD be pregnant this time around.
I mean, it has happened with people "who can't get pregnant" that there still is a small chance that it could still happen.
But no, she immediately insisted that she had some kind of creature inside of her. Like, sure that's the first thing you think after having sex earlier... XD
Yes, she was surprised by the news and David was secretive about it, but still, the realization of it all happened all in like a minute if not less.

Something the opposite of that, which annoyed me, is that Holloway,
[Show spoiler] after he looked into the mirror and saw he wasn't well and there was like this little thingy twirling out of his eyeball, he was like "OMG I'm not well... But whatever, I'm not going to tell anyone that I might have some weird condition, it's embarrassing, so screw my health.".
Sure dude, tell nobody, not even your wife/partner and risk being infected by something terrible like a zillion Kilometers from Earth...

AND, another thing is that, when they wanted to operate on Shaw,
[Show spoiler] or whatever they were going to do, and she ran off towards that automated surgery-device which was inexplicably present, that, although she knocked out like one person of the at least 2-3 people in the room, nobody continued to come after her or was even outside the door when she was done with the surgery. Like all attention on that event was suddenly distracted by something else.
"Yeah, just pretend we weren't going to operate her, we weren't going to take something unknown out of her and she didn't run off to do it herself. Nothing happened!"

Also, whenever she was in terrible pain later on, nobody even turned their head towards her.
[Show spoiler]I mean, I know there were some *******s on that ship, but they wouldn't even aim their gun at her out of a selfish precaution?
Just no reaction at all when that poor woman was in terrible pain. But OK, whatever.

Apart from those details though, I thought this movie was just "monumental" in a way. In all honesty, this is kind of what I wanted 'Alien' to be.
There is a lot more going on, there's the build-up, there's the tension, there's the sloppy bunch of people thrown together on a mission
(STILL including obligatory black guy AND Asian this time around), there's the shock-value, the horror, there's the sexuality,
there are amazing environments, a lot more locations than just a ship and of course there are some creatures as well.
This is really like the bigger brother of 'Alien', and in all honesty, better too.
I'm sorry you (fan-)guys, but I just didn't enjoy 'Alien' as much as I expected/wanted to (I'm a more recent fan).
But, they're both great for their time and budget. 'Alien' is great raw film-making, but 'Prometheus' is pretty great big-budget film-making.
Just one thing that annoyed me though, is the creature at the end; The CGI could've been better. And why not a great animatronic in this day and age??
Yes, I know this day and age pretty much IS digital and CGI, and the scene was short, but that creature was quite important, and for Ridley Scott's supposed standards, thát should've looked better. I'm sorry, it was just a little disappointing while what it presented was of course exciting.

I love how they ended the movie though, which obviously sets it up for a possible very interesting sequel, which I didn't expect actually.
I actually thought Scott insisted on telling some kind of origin-story in a single piece of work and not make it so elaborate or whatever.
But, I guess this might become an epic two-piece story or even a trilogy, I don't know, but I like it.

Oh, and if I ever run into Noomi Rapace, I'm going to propose to her no matter what. I'm not saying whát the proposition will be...
But may she return for "Sherlock 3" as well. lol

By the way, isn't there some nice edition for this movie on Blu-ray??? Would be lame if there would only be a "2D" and a "3D" version...
Yeah, there's an FNAC-box that's probably already pre-ordered out of availability. lol
Anyway, hope you enjoyed me longazz "rant/review", but great movie, I voted for 4 stars in the poll here.

I just saw it today too As for your queries,
[Show spoiler]the whole pregnant thing, like you said, happened so quick, but when you think about it, she can't get pregnant, so right away she knows it's not possible. Then, there's the fact that she had intercourse with Charley(? I think that's his name) 10 hours before she's on that table with David in the room. The fact that she can't get pregnant, and the fact that David just died from some horrible unknown reason (to her), it's obvious that something was inside of him and it transferred over to her. That, and the fact that the thing was bulging in her stomach. A baby doesn't move when it's only 3 months in the womb (not to my knowledge, and yes, it wasn't REALLY 3 months, David said that because of how big the parasite has grown)

Yes, the Charley sickness thing is typical, "don't tell anybody!" haha

I guess the doctors didn't care about her anymore, and immediately went to see Peter Weyland awaken lmao because after her surgery, she goes back to that room (or another room) and they are all there helping Peter, of course.

Nobody cares about the crew anymore in situations like that, they are all expendable like on the Alien movies I agree on the CGI monster too, there was a second or two where my eyes were like "uh, that didn't look to great"...All in all, I enjoyed it, can't wait to see it again, I guess I'll keep my preorder in Amazon even though I did that just to get the free ticket a while back lmao Plus, it goes in the same universe as the Alien movies (LOVE the fact that IMO it seems like an origin story to the Xenomorph too), so it will find it's place on my shelf. Oh, also, I liked the cast members, none of them made me cringe by how cheesy they were or anything, it was pretty good in that department, and the fact that the cliched tough guy "only doing this for the money" dude died early on haha

Now that you mention it, I think he did. Seeing it once in the theaters is not enough to cram every bit of detail into my brain, sadly.

Yes, but like I said, it has happened often that women "who can't get pregnant" sometimes still get pregnant by accident, or luck in their case.
Also, I don't know how long it takes for pregnancy to occur, but if it's not possible within 10 hours, it didn't NEED to be 10 hours in the movie.
The viewers couldn't know the time, to me it felt like it was maybe the next night, or that the intercourse was like 6-8 in the evening
and the scene with her being examined by David was like almost 24 hours later. At least, I was thinking "It's only 10 hours later?" anyway. :P

The whole thing is just that she almost instantly figured it's some kind of non-human lifeform, it's just a bit overdramatic, like this forced cheesy overreaction.
I just wish that the timing and realization of that wasn't so swift, like within the minute and it would've just cut the scene and let it spook around in her and the viewers minds, like "Wait a minute, this smells like trouble...". XD But oh well, at least it ran into this awesome spectacle of a c-section.
Thére's a thing I never thought I'd say...

I actually liked him. He didn't really seem "tough", he just seemed like worried and scared, which made him a little more likable than just a careless tough guy. :P
But yeah, there's always that guy that's "doing it for the money". But at least he was like "No offense..." rather than "Pizz off!". XD
On the other side, I would've smacked him for yelling at my woman... I thought that Tom Hardy looking guy was a bit gitty and dickish,
but whatever, he still seemed alright.

The one character I did not like performance-wise, which I think I forgot to add, was old Weyland.
I mean, no offense to Guy Pearce, I haven't seen much of him,
but his acting was the quite typical "I'm playing a very old man so I should be hunched and shaking and have this old-sounding voice" and all that.
It annoyed me to no end and I thought the make-up was quite fake and overdone as well. I didn't get that as they've done it so often in movies now...

What I especially don't get in hindsight, is why they hired a young actor to play a very old man...
It's not like he will return, as Weyland died, unless they'll do yet another "prequel" in which Guy Pearce would play a younger Weyland.
The only thing he played young in was this promotional trailer-video for 'Prometheus' where he did some presentation for that Weyland-company.
Which might have been a later idea from the marketing-department anyway, so I don't get why they got an actor in his 40s to play like twice his age.
Unless they really insisted on that promotional video to star a younger Weyland...

Yes, like I said, David was secretive about it like "I don't think you'd want to see this." or something like that.
On one side I don't understand why he didn't simply not mention it, as he intentionally "infected" Holloway.
Because of that I take it that he would've liked to see this specimen that came out of Shaw as well.
As in, how Ash in 'Alien' was kind of sent to retrieve specimens and information as well.
Maybe that was just a line that was drawn in his "programming" or "mission" and he was rather protective of Shaw in that aspect.
Still, he did not want her to see it, but if he intended to let it grow in her, he could've done a better job of covering it up.
I mean, nobody ever found out that he "infected" Holloway either, cause he kept his mouth shut.
It's really confusing as to what David's or his creator's intentions were.

Okay people, Prometheus has grossed almost $300m worldwide, $294,400,000 so what is it going to take for Fox to greenlight the much-needed sequel to this film based on that box-office take? I know it may be considered slow grossing by some, but even then, a £21m take in the UK is a major hit in anyones money. I want my Prometheus sequel as soon as possible!

If Scott is directing it could be a while. He already has other projects lined up.

David was a child. He did all that crap just because he wanted to see what happened, like when kids mistreat animals. It makes sense, since this is a prequel, that robots would be less developed.

The chap is 75 years old and he has The Counselor and his Blade Runner sequel in the offing for a start. The serious idea that someone else could Direct a second Prometheus film wouldn't be out of the equation. I'd vote for Neill Blomkamp or Peter Weir in all seriousness.
