Huh? The trailers hardly showed anything other than the big collision at the end.

No, David was a child in "A.I.".

But I know what you mean. Still, I don't know the reason of the event was that he should act like this and cause all that.
They should have been clearer about what his goal was, such as him being send by a company to retrieve samples and information.

Weird, you must've slept during 'Alien' then... Cause I thought that was pretty boring, for at least half of it.
And I thought 'Prometheus' was pretty spectacular while still having this tension and creepiness or at least some shock and horror to it.
I literally yelled out "Holy crap!" at the theater when Shaw was getting stapled up again, and it's not like I'm not used to anything, but that was amazing.
And the rest was quite awesome as well, even though I think some things should've been a little different, either in events/story or pacing.
But I mean, come on, you must be overly spoiled or whatever if this movie wasn't impressive.
Personally, it was more spectacular than I expected, and I didn't think it would be very spectacular at all,
just similar to (but more crowded than) 'Alien' or something.
I believe some shots in the trailer(s) weren't even in the final cut, but I have to agree, there isn't much to the trailer but a lot of teasing and build-up.

But as for a sequel, I was really expecting one seeing the ending and now it kind of feels incomplete as well.
Then, I'm afraid, since Ridley Scott indeed has other projects and he's older, that it will likely never happen with him.
On the other side, if Fox wants to make more money, they probably will find someone else to direct it.
I mean, there's always the producers and the same thing was possible for the Alien-franchise. Who knows they'll milk out at least 2-3 more movies.

Then, go watch some "splosive" action-flick or something if you want all that...
Cause wow, clearly you're not the type (or just not old enough) for the deeper stories and plots.
I liked this one: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0295701/ You should be able to understand that.

You never know. I've had some encounters with endless amounts of ridiculous this last week, so I'm a little tired of it. XD

You loved Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter and were bored by Prometheus.....

It just goes to show you, there's room in this great big world for people with every conceivable opinion.

Brendan Wright video unlocked. http://www.projectprometheus.com/careers/

San Diego Comic-con Prometheus references: http://www.comic-con.org/cci/cci_search_results.php

Charles de Lauzirika will probably have an answer to the question about a director's cut for the Prometheus BD:

5:00-6:00 Blu-ray Producers 2012 — Bill Hunt, Todd Doogan, and Dr. Adam Jahnke of The Digital Bits.com and Geek Monthly discuss the process of making great Blu-ray special editions with producers Charles de Lauzirika (Prometheus, The Amazing Spider-Man), Cliff Stephenson (The Hunger Games, The Expendables 2), and Robert Meyer Burnett (Star Trek: The Next Generation-Seasons One and Two), as well as Warner Home Video’s senior VP of theatrical catalog marketing George Feltenstein. Audience participation is encouraged. Room 5AB

Wow!!! You found "that" chat "interesting" ? I guess I liked the part about the theaters and seating, but, other than that...

The reading part was okay, but I mostly looked at the pictures

Seriously, I find it striking how different people's opinions can be. It's a good thing I suppose. It keeps us thinking about perspectives different than ours. Maybe it's part of our evolution. The more divergence, the better off we are....

You Know.......It would be SO DAMMN if James Cameron came in and said he wanted to direct Prometheus 2.
Talk about history repeating itself!!
MAN.......just to think about that is mind boggling!!

No, not really. While his technical skills have soared since Aliens, his writing skills have dropped off quite a bit in the past decade or so.

No thank you.

I might be ok with it if he directed and someone else wrote it(depending on the writer, of course). But since he's said he's only making documentaries and Avatar movies from now on, I don't see that happening.

I wouldn't say his writing skills have dropped off - but rather he is still writing like he is in the 80's.

Avatar lines:

"Yeah, who's bad?"
"Come get some!"

There were several lines that made me cringe. I was thinking, who says that anymore.

I know he wrote the script over a decade ago, so why not update the language, or better yet, don't use current popular culture/slang in movies that take place in the future.

Cameron has always had pretty basic dialogue.

Cameron's basic dialogue is what makes his movies connect to audience though...

Personally I always loved his character narration within the movie... Terminator scene when Reese is explaining the future... describing what the terminator is.. .etc... that is some brilliant writing. To the point, and clear...

Mr. Cameron is alright....but he can stay the hell away at this point in his career. He's made some great films, he's made some bad films. Sadly though his career is dropping off quickly. He's invested in his retirement franchise with Avatar. He won't be doing anyone else's movies. This is Ridley Scott's franchise, he should and could finish his story and vision.

He's an okay writer now. He hits all the important structual points of a story, and there's enough story to carry things forward, but his characters are ultra-thin and his dialogue outdated and repetitious.

I liked Titanic, and I thought Avatar was decent, but they pale compaired to his earlier offerings.

He can direct anything and I'll watch it, so long as someone else is doing the bulk (or all) of the writing.

He just isn't that great of a writer anymore.
