After watching this movie twice in theaters I can truly say I have become a fan of it! And hearing confirmation of the sequel is awesome news. Can't wait for this!

Prometheus sequel is officially happening
EntertainmentMoviesNews

In a suspiciously low-key fashion, Fox has confirmed that this year’s hyped science fiction smash hit, Prometheus, will indeed have a sequel.

The Ridley Scott is-it-or-is-it-not prequel to Alien that grossed over $303 million worldwide will air its follow-up in 2014, with Scott, Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender commited to continuing the cinematic legacy.

Screenwriter Damon Lindelof, however, will not work on the project.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox’s president of production Emma Watts has emphasized that audiences must remain patient for the peroration as the studio and ““Ridley [Scott] is incredibly excited about the movie, but we have to get it right. We can’t rush it.”

Interestingly, Watts has overseen sequels from both the X-Men and Planet of the Apes franchises (take that as you will) and word on the web is that after part two, viewers can expect an epic third instalment.

Hilarious that Lindelof wasn't asked to return. They might say he's "busy", but I'm guessing the fan backlash against Lindelof's transparent writing techniques made some impressions on the studio.

They're digging up Dan O'Bannon's grave for him to write a better script, ESPECIALLY now that he's dead!

Just got back from seeing Prometheus (7th time) at the local $1 theater...surprisingly large turnout...almost like opening day all over again.

I bet you threw all of your mirrors away where you are living; as the tension of looking at yourself as a reflection is quite unbearable...

The funny thing is, before the sites system lost, he was nay saying the people who came out of it disappointed, using my new most hated term, "that's just your opinion/in your opinion"

Im not a fan of prometheus but a sequal could help improve it.

If it provides alot of answers which relate back into prometheus then watching them back to back would improve my rating of it.

As a standalone its not good enough, so im happy to hear another is on the way.

One of my summer boredom sketches turned into a Prometheus poster.

Exactly. Stand alone it is unsatisfying/incomplete feeling. And hearing the writer isn't returning makes me much more optimistic. The environment/direction is fantastic...it just needed more.

IMO, the weakness on the writing level was in terms of strong character development/logic. I really hope they keep the elements of mystery and ambiguity in the sequel however - whoever writes it.

Hopefully David Lindelof will not be on board for this project
