Oh well. I liked it, one of the best films if the summer IMO. You are free to disagree just as I am free to love it.

But the argument that Prometheus was cut and made ambiguous to cash in on a sequel is paper thin. Who takes that kind of a risk on an R rated sci-fi series? Not to mention the story was conceived as 2 films from the start. So there is really nothing to be said there.

Poor Snicket, just can't catch a break. I enjoyed Prometheus as well, I just hope the sequel answers a lot of the holes they left. I'm looking forward to having it in my collection.

I just don't see the point for somebody who hates a movie so much to constantly stalk the thread, posting to no end.

Ex-girlfriends/boyfriends probably have to file restraining orders.

I know! When I read his post I was straight up like, so because we enjoyed and understood what you couldn't, we're apologist? Oooookay. Do you feel this high and mighty with all flicks you don't like, but others do? I take it you believe fans of cult movies are apologists, or folks who have their "guilty pleasure" flicks are also apologists for those as well? Whatever. It's a movie. If you didn't like it, fine. Those who enjoyed it, though, aren't automatically idiots. I mean, some of the complaints about character motivations have been covered, but we're apologists because we understood them when you couldn't? Hmmmm...

However, I think you said it all just fine, Snicket!

With the introduction of the word "apologists", this is very quickly devolving into the "Star Wars" thread!

Besides that, there were a lot of other things not in this film - a good plot, decent dialog, interesting and believable characters, a decent score and also good acting (except for Fassbender and Rapace (and even Rapace was a bit lacking at times, especially her accent)).

As for the Prometheus apologists - I have a bridge to sell you ........
Prometheus didn't have a DECENT score?!? It was great. Have you actually listened to this track?!? It seems to me like you're hating on Prometheus just for the sake of it. What you're doing is taking a bunch of stuff that is usually wrong with movies and saying that that is what's wrong with Prometheus. It's fine if you don't like the movie but why accuse those who do like it of being apologists?

Well I know for sure I put more effort into reading what you tried to say than you put into writing it.

But as Froggy and I tried to explain to you I was not hating on Twilight but I was making an observation about how the actors viewed their work. If you like the movies that's not my concern. In fact have at them. I also made it clear it was Barbosa's right to dislike Prometheus, just as its my right to enjoy it. To another point I may grossly dislike a movie (Transformers) but that doesn't mean I hate anyone who enjoys it. I have several friends who really like them but I don't alienate myself from them because they do.

But none of this has anything to do with Prometheus by the way...But at least you didn't make any obtuse comparisons to Dragon Tattoo this time so I guess that's improvement.

The last video in the upper left hexagon cluster has been released. Some very interesting mechanical devices revealed toward the end. Something we will see in the Paradise Prometheus sequel perhaps? (click on the topmost hexagon to play.)

I think the editing could have been better:

"A lot has been made of the role you played in restructuring “Gladiator.” The framing device of Russell Crowe’s hand in the reeds wasn’t in the script; that was your own invention. Did "Prometheus" go through a lot of rejiggering as well during the editing phase?"

" Yes. “Prometheus,” specifically at the beginning, something changed. Based on the script, we always had the opening prologue with the Engineers, but then there was supposed to be a direct cut to space, literally finding David (Michael Fassbender) alone in a spaceship. Only after the movie was cut and first shown to the studio did we realize that it would really help if there was an introductory scene to Noomi’s [Rapace] character. We had that, but they shot it at the end. It was always a question of where to put that introduction. How do we discover that character first? Do we discover it through David as she’s asleep in a chamber and then flash back? Or do we see it before? So there was a lot of moving around of pieces."

I just watched the preview available on the PS Store and yes, they did indeed expect to find living beings at the end of their trip. Noomi actually says, "I think they want us to come and find them." and "It's not a map. It's an invitation." This tells me I was right in my original thinking; they expected to find aliens. Yep, they left with assumptions based off of cave paintings, but they still expected more than what they got.

So neener-neener-neener! I was right! Thbbbt!
