Why are you guys talking about the space jockey? Didn't the comments confirm it has nothing to do with the Alien franchise enough?

is it safe to say that maybe Scott stabbed Alien fans on the back? I mean, I am starting to get nervous now, he does say "keen fan will recognize Alien DNA" so what does this means? Can someone please set the record straight as to if there IS NO Space Jockey in this movie? I get more confused the more I read.

All it means is that people can see influences from Alien, but it will be completely unrelated.

No, I don't think it is safe to say he stabbed Alien fans in the back. As much as I would like a film about the Space Jockey, the origin of the Alien etc, I don't AvP minus the Predator. Ridley Scott is a sensible man who probably figured out that a film explaining the mythology probably wouldn't work on a number of levels. He's probably done Alien fans a favour...

No one on this forum (unless of course Ridley Scott, Damon Lindelof et al are Blu-ray.com forum lurkers) will be able to tell you whether the Space Jockey will be in Prometheus or not.

UGH!! I think I want to go in my hypersleep chamber and cry.. I just hope this movie is good and that Scott gives us a little taste of "Alien" in it, just a little taste!!! I mean, since it's not going to be a second sequel maybe do this for the fans and end it with a scene of the Nostromo flying into space. But who knows, maybe this will be a series of films leading to the beginning of Alien. I just dunno anymore, I am kind of sad, I was really hoping for a prequel so lets see where this takes us.

Just keep on checking this thread every couple of days, and whenever details get leaked out, they will most likely end up here.

It will be kinda fun, you'll see.

It would've taken away the mystique. I'm glad they scrapped it.

This is GREAT news. I truly believe a prequel would have hurt the franchise. I love the mystery of the Space Jockey. My imagination and curiosity are far stronger than some prequel spelling it all out for me. The best part of the whole Space Jockey scene is just trying to imagine what the hell that thing is and why it would have these dangerous alien eggs aboard. The last thing I want to know is the answer to those questions. The fact that it will have Alien DNA just tells me it will be another dark, quiet and moody sci-fi film from Scott like Blade Runner and Alien. I'd much rather something new with the same feel than a prequel. Bravo!

Yep, that has been what I have been saying all along.

A prequel would ruin the AWESOME MYSTERY, and lessening the impact of the first ALIEN movie.

No. It has nothing to do with Alien anymore. This is it's own movie entirely. And I'm honestly glad. It's great that were getting something new and not a prequel that ruins the mystery of the Space Jockey and what happened to it

Glad to see were getting a new, original idea!
