It seems not be a prequal to the four Alien movies, but rather a "spin-off" that takes place before the first Alien movie. It's in the same universe as the peeps from Alien but it's not going to be directly related to them. In fact, the new actor signed on happens to be another android! How many of those have we seen so far?

Yeah well i read that before but still i dont quite get it, if there ain't gonna be aliens whats the point to relate it somehow to Alien.

meaby the movie will talk about the compagny: Weyland-Yutani... how they decided to explore space with human and androids...

Also, we could have a Glimpse of the other aliens we saw in the first film (the "space Jockey").. to see what happen before they got attacked by the xenomorphs..

After some time, I've come around on this. I was initially disappointed we wouldn't have another Ridley Scott entry in the Alien series. But, after thinking about it, prequels are typically inferior because if you know the ending point, how much drama can there be, other than filling in a few blindspots in the storyline (often times killing some of the mystique)?
With the cast Scott has assembled, I'm really excited to see what they come up with.

Some Prometheus story details revealed. Will have aliens in it?
It turns out that Ridley Scott's recent comments that Prometheus would be a departure from the Aliens series are somewhat misleading.

An exclusive source has told us that not only are HR Giger's classic aliens in it, but that they're integral to the plot.

Mere hours after the announcement that Michael Fassbender is locked in to play an android with rumoured links to Aliens' Bishop series, our insider sources have revealed that he's not the only one with strong links to the series' past.

"They’ve built the ‘space jockey’ cockpit at Pinewood as seen in the original Alien film, so it definitely takes place in the same world as Alien", they told us.

"Despite that press release that seemed to indicate there were no aliens in the movie, the familiar HR Giger-style aliens do appear. Big ones apparently."

And as for Scott's comments noting that "keen fans will recognise strands of Alien's DNA"?

It turns out there was the slightest hint of misdirection - apparently the actual DNA of the xenomorphs is integral to the plot - and will see the cast jet off to the alien homeworld itself.

"Part of the film will be shot in Morocco. I’ve heard that some sort of archaeological dig where they discover alien DNA takes place there and that DNA gives them the coordinates for an alien world. I’ve also heard Morocco is being used for alien planet landscapes so I’m not sure if it’s an archaeological dig on another planet," they revealed.

It gets weirder too, with Damon Lindelof's script set to crank up the sci-fi angle to maximum effect.

"The main spaceship in the film will be piloted by an enormous head which I assume will be CGI. Yep, sounds weird but I assume some of the technology will be sort of biomechanical."

Pyramid in the Prequel?

Alien Prequel News | Posted by Corporal Hicks on 14 Nov 2010 16:35 GMT

I’d like to preface this one by saying take this with a grain of salt as it is only 3rd hand information. Richard Daborn pointed me towards this post:

“I’m not sure if any of this is known, but my Brother works in TV and one of the crews he works with came back from Morocco about 10 days ago (I waited until I knew it would be okay to mention). He was told that the area of desert they were shooting (where Scott shot Kingdom of Heaven) on had just been recced by Scott and he’s given the go ahead for them to start work on a pyramid!
The person who told my Brother thought it was going to be a part of Earth, but the pyramid sounds suspiciously like the original pyramid idea for Alien, so might actually be Acheron, or another planet.”

This was posted over at the Aliens Legacy forum.

Apparently it was confirmed that filming would take place there. Scott said in the 70's that he would have loved to film an alien planet in an exotic location:

‘Studio landscape is bloody difficult. You’re constantly staring at plaster rocks and saying, “Christ, this doesn’t look right.” I would have preferred to do some of it on location and then do a studio link. In fact, I ‘d been looking at some spots for another picture that would have been beautiful for Alien, particularly in Turkey where there are these pyramid-like dwellings – huge mountainous structures which cover hundreds of square miles. Absolutely extraordinary. But it was a practical budget decision not to go away on location, and so we just did what we could in the studio.’
Ridley Scott, Cinefex, 1979.

Hey everyone, I've re-worked another design for the poster. This one doesnt include any credit information because it can change. I will fill those later on, but this is the background. Do you like the new logo design and background?

I am sure you guys are probably tired of me posting my poster ideas over and over, but I am so excited about this movie I cannot stand it!!!

Anyhow, I came across a posting on a newgroup app that's only available to the iPOD Touch so I cannot post the information on here. It was for the 3rd Transformers movie, in which it is said that Fox is planning a teaser trailer for "Prometheus" to copies of Transformers: The Dark Side of The Moon out this July. Can anyone confirm this???

So it goes from being a prequel, to not a prequel, to a prequel again?

If you're reviving a tired franchise, I think it's best to play with the audience's expectations a little. I think Prometheus, if Alien-related, is gonna be as far removed from Alien as Aliens was - a related, expanded universe, but different kind of feel or topics.
