The 'Prometheus' Ship Lives to Tell PG-13 Story

ome disturbing news out of the ongoing Fox panel in Hall H of the San Diego Comic-Con. Director Ridley Scott shot a video introduction from the set of Prometheus, the still unconfirmed Alien prequel starring Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Guy Pearce, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Logan Marshall-Green, Benedict Wong, Emun Elliott and Ben Foster.

The biggest disappointment out of the panel is that the film is apparently PG-13 but Scott hinted they are covering their asses with more extreme material and do what's right for the film in the end. He says it is not hindering the movie and that he wants "to scare the shit out of you." As for the Alien connection, this is all he had to share: "It has the DNA of the original 'Alien' that's it. Everything else is completely original."

The thousands of fans were then treated to the first ever footage, as described by Andrew Kasch beyond the break.

"We see bursts of crew members on spaceship that looks much like the Nostromo ... We see hypersleep chambers.

Intercut with footage of crew in space suits exploring Giger-esque caverns including a platform that looks like the place where the Space Jockey is. Lots of strange pods are laid out.

Michael Fassbender in a lab exploring some goopy alien material.

Charlize Theron screams "Get back!" and blasts a man with a flamethrower.

Asthetically and design wise it looks exactly like the original Alien. Definitely in the same universe. Scott teased the crowd that in the final minutes of the movie, a big question leftover from Alien is going to be answered. He also teased that there might be one android on the crew.

i had a feeling it wouldnt be R, i dont see a studio putting so much money into an R rated movie. but its Ridley Scott, so there will be a directors cut blu-ray and im sure it will be good anyway. honestly aside from the chestburster scene the original Alien could probably pass for PG13 now and it doesnt keep it from being awesome and horrifying.

If there's one thing I love more than gorgeous women, it's gorgeous women performing nude fitness tasks or playing with guns.

PG-13 or R I dont care, Im just glad this movie is being made! With the cast and Ridley Scott involved Im sure the movie will be great regardless of the rating

How is that a known fact, I said it quite a while ago and I thought the only thing that's been said so far was also what Ridley said today there "there is a droid" I didn't hear anything confirming who it was. Wouldn't that kind of spoil the surprise?

I'm disappointed at the PG-13 but yet I'm still hyped to see it. Hopefully this footage will be online soon.

You know, as disappointing as the PG-13 rating is...I still can't wait to see this. Fassbender in a Ridley Scott movie set in the Alien universe? Can't beat that.

From that interview...

When asked about playing an android, Michael Fassbender stated the following.

"I don't know what I can say! I don't want to get into trouble..."

After saying this, he nodded affirmatively, quietly confirming that he will indeed be playing an android in Prometheus.

I don't know about this, haven't heard that anywhere else before.
