I just hope that Scott doesn't go all 'shakey cam' on the movie, a technique which he has used more and more over the years.

wasn't it meant to be a Prequel of Aliens but then 'Evolved' into something else, but still in the same 'Universe'.
so essentially a Alien Prequel i think?

Yeah, started off as an Alien prequel but morphed in to a completely different story and focus. All the interviews I have read state that there is a common thread to the Alien though.

I have to say this movie will probably make me leave my home theater for ... an actual real movie theater

The true story is that it is a prequel (with completley new characters), but the suits at Fox aren't letting Scott say that because they think they can sell it better without "franchise fatigue."

It's not a remake. It's a prequel. It's corporate spin. Fox wants to market it as "an original movie" because they think they can sell it better without the Alien label being slapped on it. Ridley is saying these things because he has specific instructions to do so from people at Fox. Enough of the actors have confirmed its an Alien film for us to know that what it really is.

Thanks for the link! I think this is the one film I am looking forward to the most, in 2012. Glad RS is at the helm, and not another director.

Strange. Sure the last 2 Alien movies were really poor, but from what it seems like they're dumping a ton of money into this movie, so you'd think name association would be a plus for a project like this.

Predators for example was a nice jump in quality (except for Laurence Fishburne's idiotic character) after all those dismal AVP movies and didn't do too bad in the worldwide b.o.
