Well, i am just hoping that it gets an R rating, I don't want a PG-13 rated aliens! I like F-Bombs and blood/gore!

I was so excited about Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender being in the film I totally forgot about Charlize Theron being in the picture, damn.

The extended cut of the Blu-ray will get the 'R' and the theatrical release will be PG-13, as FOX execs are too afraid of dumping all this money into an 'R' rated movie unfortunately.

And that makes filming it in 3d pointless. We don't get to see the movie the way it was meant to.

That's the way it goes. PG 13 dominates because that's the demographic that actually go to the movies. Adults don't that much, the elderly sure don't, and plenty of other people just wait for the blu ray....like me

Scifi is expensive and FOX has to cover their arse. I don't agree with it or like it but it is the way of things.

Well, then I will just have to wait for the BluRay release to watch the actual movie then!

Thats why i dont like Fox
why don't they take the risk and make the best film possible and recoup the money from cinema and DVD/Blu ray sales over time

As disappointing as the Theatrical release news is it does make me happy to know a proper "R" cut will come to Blu-ray.

I like cussing and gore in my movie as much as the next person, but as long as we get a great movie, a great "Alien" movie at that, Im not too concerned whether the rating is PG-13 or R. I trust that Ridley Scott can make a great movie around the "obstacle" of a PG-13 rating.

i dont really care about it being rated something UNTIL it doesnt show the movie as it was meant to be.

i love going at the cinema, even if we have a really small one i love it. but looks like bluray at home is the way to go now if you want to see your movie properly. then the companies cry that people dont go to cinema enough. its your godamn fault, fox.

Not 100%.

But interviews from Scott and studio execs had them leaning in that direction.

So we will just have to wait and see.

There is always hope.

Ugh Fox!

Did Alien 3 not teach them anything about how micromanaging a project can ruin it?! They need to keep their nose out of Ridleys business and let him do his thing. They didn't trust Fincher, and look what he went on to do later! Heck, I guess Warner Brothers never trusted Ridley with Blade Runner either but Fox better trust Ridleys editing now! A PG-13 (albeit unconfirmed) totally reeks of Fox stank. I guess if I'm horribly let down at least I have some studio execs I get to scapegoat and lay the blame on for this one.

Jesus christ, calm down. There is no confirmation on a pg-13 rating. This has been absolutely NO word on studio interference. Why would you freak out and jump down their throats before knowing anything?

I just thought of something...

way back in 1977 right after 'Saturday Night Fever' became a smash hit, the studio also released a PG version of the film alongside of it's R-rated predecessor to rake in more cash.

So, maybe they can do the same thing here?

I didn't even know they did that. I saw a double feature of Saturday Night Fever and Grease way back then. I wonder which version I saw.
