I been expecting either The Avenger or The Dark Knight Rises to be THE GREATEST MOVIE EVER for 2012 but I might have been wrong
You're pretty negative today. You crap on this thread and another and maybe more. I don't enjoy that.
A lot of us are on this movie site because we love movies.
You should go back to bed or just log-off for a while.

I didn't fall for anything, as I said, most of us have known for a long time what the deal is with this movie. And they still lied. That's why it didn't make sense to me. Do you get it NOW? Or do I have to explain it again?

Lying about a movie is not marketing, it's just lying. Simple as that. And again, I never believed it wasn't an Alien prequel, we all knew that it was going to be an Alien prequel. But that's what bothered me: we all knew the truth and they still lied.

Assume Steven Spielberg goes on record saying that his new movie is not a Jurassic Park sequel (although everyone knows that it is), and then it turns out that it is a Jurassic Park sequel... how is that marketing? How does that help the movie during its opening weeks? Please explain it to me what's the fantastic marketing strategy behind all that B.S. because I just don't get it. (and I've worked in marketing before). Please, share your knowledge.

they teasers didnt say he created science fiction, its that he redefined the genre. which he did. there werent really any big serious mature sci-fi films (aside from things like 2001 or Solaris) before Alien and Blade Runner, he definitely changed the game forever.

No, we know that. But Strafer said that Ridley Scott created science fiction, which I thought was a bit disturbing, ha.

Also even though the font for the title is the same you can still see that it is conputer generated.
When was the the last time you saw a font in any medium that wasn't computer generated? Of course it was computer generated. Even before the advent of desktop publishing, there were proprietary photo/electronic typesetters that were for all intents and purposes, "computer" generated fonts. And back in the 70s and 80s, while the fonts were generated on paper, optical means were used to give them color and glows, through techniques such as colored filters, over-exposures, etc.

It's only when you go back to old print processes like letterpress that you have metal or wood type. While a letterpress can still use metal or wood type set one character at a time, more often than not today, the fonts are generated on computer and sent to a service that creates a metal plate out of it. One of the reasons for this (aside from the fact that it's easier to generate and work with) is that the old metal and wooden sets of type tend to be worn out so the letters are no longer crisp and in some cases, parts are broken. And no one is making new ones.

No, it was Strafer who said that, and Monkey and I were talking about how it wasn't true; Monkey said that the trailers went overboard with some of those comments, and I was explaining that to you, and you were like, "I wasn't talking to you" or "wasn't responding to you".

That's why I said that.

which to me indicated that he thought that the teaser also expressed the same view as Strafer, which it does not. make sense?

no big deal, nuances and inflection of human speech can sometimes be lost in printed word (especially when it comes to the internet).
i can see how my "i wasnt responding to your post" could seem short but i didnt mean it that way.

Dude cry me a river, you sound as if you're entitled to have everything set to your liking. The main goal is to spark curiousity and to get people into the movie theater seats, plain and simple. This is Hollywood, one of the most ruthless industries on the planet. It's about the bottom line, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. The "Fitness Industry" is further proof about marketing with their "lose weight without excercise" gimmicks you see advertised on TV, Radio, Internet, etc etc.

So you think you were lied to? Boo hoo, move on.

I wouldn't be quite so hard as some of you have been on Ridley and crew for not calling Prometheus a prequel to Alien. None of the characters that appear in Alien or Aliens will appear in Prometheus. Hence the significant difference in the storyline. In the strict definition of a prequel, it would precede the original in timeline and include some of the characters from the original.

Some comments by Charlize Theron about her Prometheus character:

Comments from Noomi Rapace about her character:

and opinion about whether Prometheus is or isn't a prequel:
