I'm not being ironic here (it confuses US members who don't seem to understand the concept of irony) but can we maybe crowbar into the craniums of various casual readers that:

The Alien xenomorph will not appear in this film!*
This film takes place at least 100 years before Alien!*
The major story is about the origins of mankind and what happens when a team of extra-solar explorers go a step too far and discover truths that should have been hidden!

Yes that is the main confusion. Whether will the Xenomorph ever appear or not, which I highly doubt, perhaps we will only see the development of a biological entity into the eggs which contains the facehuggers as we know that was stowed in the ship right up to the end of the movie..just a wild guess

IMO, since we sort of know that the xenomorph (likely) is out of the goddamn equation for this movie, Im wondering what will be the real fear factor for this movie then? Space Jockeys? IMO, I dont think they are kind of scary...mutated humans killing each other? NOT SCARY AT ALL since we are exposed to that kind of shit in countless of movies already.

I know, that's one of the reasons that i'm not terribly excited about the film at this moment in time as for the very points you have made above. In the next trailer i want to see more of the Origins Of Humanity themes explored and the first hints at what should be 'vorlon-type' aliens being encountered.

If the film is about the Prometheus and crew discovering a planet that has forbidden tech on it and it sets off a trap that drives crew members nuts then i'm bailing out like right now as that idea is as cliched as hell. Literaly, as in the likes of Event Horizon etc!

Maybe I'm misreading but, from the Prometheus site:

"The Alien in Prometheus will be very reminiscent of the original "Xenomorph" seen in the popular sci-fi Alien series; originally kicked off by Ridley Scott aswell. Hmmm.... thats gonna be quite interesting. Pretty big issue to tackle but if anyone can do it, Ridley can. No doubt it'll be better than Malicks Tree of Boredom and Disjointedness.
