Alien 5 would have turned people off. I personally wouldn't care for another xenomorph film in the long line of Alien films, no matter who was directing.

The Alien mythology doesn't need a prequel.

I agree also.

There dose not need to be an prequel to ALIEN as that can easily destroy the fantastic mystique of the Space Jockey from the first film.

However, since Ridley is involved, I will still see this day 3.

Yeah really - this series has already established that sequels are NOT a good thing since A3 and A4 are just bad.

You cant make sequels 20++ years after the fact anyways. Its got to be done fairly close or you lose whatever magic you had. You can do PREQUELS afterwards but not sequels. Doesnt work.

Yes, even with those two; although they would of had me interested a little. There is a reason Mr. Scott did not want to make a film continuing the franchise. Where do they go? There just isn't enough of a fresh perspective to tackle with making an Alien 5. If there were, Mr. Scott would have gave it more thought, I think.

More about possible rating of Prometheus from April 2012 edition of Empire Magazine. I don't know about you, but I'm voting for the really dark version. if we don't get it in the theater, pehaps they will provide both versions on blu-ray. One can only hope: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9_RaItoWKk...g_feb_2012.jpg

I would still be very disapointed if we didn't get it in cinema release!

I think that if they continued with the Ripley clone character in any way (Cameron/Scott or no), then that would have damaged the film from the start. It needed something fresh, which Ridley seems to be bringing.

I absolutely agree with that.

But if they did go with a sequel, my hope would have been for an entirely new cast without Sigourney or any other android cameo involved.

BTW, did they ever make a 4th ALIEN film?

Guy Pearce plays Peter Weyland in Prometheus?
Hungarian movie website FilmSite.hu has posted an article today with a quote from Prometheus director Ridley Scott, giving more insight to the connection between Prometheus and the original Alien.

The article is in Hungarian, and unfortunately Google translate doesn't seem to tackle Hungarian all too well. However, using a couple of extra translators I've managed to more or less make sense of the quote:

"When the first 'Alien' movie and 'Blade Runner' were made, I thought that in the near future the world will be owned by large companies. This is why we have the Tyrell Corporation in 'Blade Runner', and Weyland-Yutani in 'Alien'. They sent the Nostromo spaceship.
The Prometheus is owned by an entrepreneur called Peter Weyland, and is played by Guy Pearce. That's the connection between the two films, and nothing more. Prometheus is a new film, a new world, and is full of new ideas. And of course new monsters as well."

FilmSite.hu quotes IC Press as their source, but there's no mention of where or when Sir Ridley made this quote nor any other sources backing it up yet, so please take this info with a little bit of salt for the time being...
http://www.alienprequelnews.com/2012...eyland-in.html

Obviously something's lost in translation (as the article warns), as Weyland isn't the only connecting vein to ALIEN, considering that we've seen the derelict craft and the Jockey chair.

LOL

Now that sure is interesting...and confusing.
