I believe the time has come for me to not read this thread anymore and not look at any pictures.

Even though it is hard to resist!

All PROMETHEUS is going to be is a reboot of ALIEN. Nothing more. It's hard for me to believe that most people haven't figure this out by the new trailer.

Creepy andriod, leading lady in her underwear, room full of mysterious alien objects all over floor, circular donut spaceship, space jockey hmmmmmm

I think it was mentioned earlier that the last 8 or 10 minutes of this movie lead to the first Alien movie. If this is true, then it is obviously not a reboot.

Excellent interview shedding light on the MPAA rating and Scott's good relationship with Fox studio exec's.

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/54368

Excerpt:" I think probably the most iconic scene in the movie is going to be a horror scene. It's psychologically scary and viscerally scary. That being said, that's just three minutes of screen time in a two-hour film. Hopefully, it has all of the above."

That's pretty much the confirmation it's PG-13 then

If this film is going to be rated the equivalent of 12A, then it better be a masterclass in how to scare the crap out of the audience for such an unsuitable rating. At least we may have the option of seeing the R rated version on BD before christmas, those money grubbing bastards at Fox. Way to go to respect Scott's vision and force him to film a PG13 version. I can't stand Tom Rothman.

Looks to me like they are spending around 100 mil on marketing this film. With still 79 days to go; if they keep up this blistering pace of trailers, viral marketing, ARG websites prometheusproject.com and weylandindustries.com and taped interviews; what will be left to reveal? Outside of the GOTCHA horror moments, there aren't many questions left to answer.

A few I can think of are
[Show spoiler]1. What is Guy Pearce's role in this movie? From the timeline About Us at Weyland Industries.com we know his birth date (1990) and approximately when he dies? (They build a memorial library in 2065) or gets put in stasis so he can make the trip on Prometheus. Is he the guy in the wheelchair? It certainly looks like Guy Pearce in the hi-res screencap.

2.What is the core motivation of the Engineers?

3.Is the "King" shown at the waterfall in the trailer a rogue Engineer who stayed on Earth to help mankind develop to the point that they could seek out and confront the gods/Engineers. Is he the Prometheus figure?

4. Is the white pseudopodenous creature the god/engineer? A kind of Stargate Gu'aould able to infect and morph lifeforms at will? Is it the protoplasmic goo between David's gloved fingers? "Big things come from small beginnings"

5. Peter Weyland's accomplishments are incredible. Has he been exposed to the remains of the rogue Engineer/King and been infected by the contact on Earth, thereby becoming the new Prometheus, with vengeance against the gods in mind? "We are the gods now" (from TED)

No, it's a spin-off that developed from Alien prequel to a film of its own.

Are people assuming
[Show spoiler]that shot at the waterfall is supposed to be Earth and that the figure there is an alien on Earth? The figure has some kind of vein thing going on as well which also happens to one of the crew members in the trailer on his neck.

That flying shadow doesn't look like the Derelict either but I supposed it could be.

OK, this is where it gets confusing.

[Show spoiler]I assumed that this birthing sequence took place in the med lab, but apparently it did not.

So where was the C-section happening at? And who is doing it?

After it takes place, she stumbles out into the ship's corridors, painfully treks her way into the med lab where she collapses onto the floor, to the surprised looks of everybody there.

Anybody here got any ideas as to what EXACTLY is going on here???

.

This makes me want to play Contra, which to me appears to be heavily influenced by Alien/Aliens HR Gieger, as well as Arnold S. and Stalone for the main characters.
