Exactly. I still believe that the much mooted idea of Humans becoming the Space Jockey just doesn't work. Take a look at how the basic premise simply doesn't hold together;

Seems like a long way to go to try and colonise another planet! If humans were that advanced, they would realise the genetic soup would have transformative abilities and not touch it! Doesn't make Sense.

I Still think the original 'Gods Over React' angle from the Prometheus myth is the backbone of the story. Humans get given a gift, take more than they are allowed, and the Elder Gods go apeshit.

Alien 3 is also a decent movie if you watch the Extended version. It's completely different than the theatrical cut in a lot of ways, and is much darker, like the original.

Resurrection should just be forgotten.

Does the Blu-ray collection have the EE edition of Alien 3 ?

I know it has the DC versions of the first 2.

Here is a video of the 17 March Wondercon Panel with Lindelof, Scott, Theron and Fassbender at which the 2:33 min trailer was introduced for the first time. (Not the IMAX trailer which was also shown, but leaked 11 hrs. earlier and accessible at **Movie). I was at Wondercon on the 17th.

That helps a little, thanks. I can not see how there is much to build off of, as far as the myth goes, going by that video.

I like a lot of the things I see in that above pic, like Geiger's influence, the radio antenna on the ship looking similar to the Nostromo's, and how the vehicle on the ground has slight resemblances to the colony designs seen in Aliens.

It all looks fresh, yet ties into the universe nicely.

Did Scott fold his original double-feature idea into one film, or is the plan to do another one of these?

Yes. He wants to do a sequel to Prometheus. In his words "Prometheus will leave a lot of questions unanswered." Watch the Wondercon video a few posts back.

Coolness. Let's pray for a knockout summer at the box office for the movie then! Unfortunately, I am in school full time, so even if I love it I may only be able to see it once--but my daughter and I will be splurging for the 3D experience.

[Show spoiler]Most interesting is alien ship positioned horizontally with Prometheus on full throttle. If alien ship flies prongs forward, it may have initiated the collision.
