No I didn't. You're making an assumption. I had no problem with your opinion, and I still don't.

I only responded to your post, and never offered any kind of offence (and I still don't). Don't you think it's reasonable that people be able to respond your your statements? I do. |

That doesn't really help things though. Regardless of the nature of the beacon, it is a signal transmitted by an alien intelligence. Unlocking the secrets of that is Nobel Prize winning stuff. I can't imagine the human race (even a corporate element of it) passing up on something so monumental as proof that humans are not alone in the universe.
But I was mainly talking about the inconsistencies in terrain between the movies, and how if this is LV-426, then why are the two planets so different in their geological formation? As far as the SJ being fossilized in Alien, I can dismiss it if necessary, as Dallas isn't doing much more than speaking off of the cuff about something his character probably wasn't an expert in. I can also dismiss the high winds in Alien vs. the partial lack of them in the prequel as seasonal conditions. But the rock formations surrounding the crash site are way different between Prometheus and Alien, and that's what leaves me scratching my head a little. Scott doesn't really revisit the movie worlds he helps create all that much as he moves from one project to the next, but he is renowned for being 'in the moment' and making artistic choices as such. I can certainly see him dismissing occasional inconsistencies between stories for the sake of bringing his current vision to the screen. There are a lot of things already in place that suggest this is LV-426, and only a few that bring it into question. I'm curious about it either way. |

You're wrong. They initially think it is an SOS, but Ripley later decodes it further and thinks it's a warning. She wants to call the crew back and warn them but Ash tells her there is no point because by the time they get to the signal they will know if it is a warning or not.

One concern where these discrepancies may have came from is [Show spoiler] With Damon Lindelof coming onboard and rewriting it for a more modest budget may have resulted in the aforementioned discrepancies.
