I hope Ridley gives us something new, and I have a strong feeling he's going to.
I hope he makes it like 2001. Slow moving, atmospheric, thought provoking, and beautifully shot.

Kinda like the first ALIEN movie.

And do not forget this recent quote from Ridley-

"The film will be really tough, really nasty," he notes. "It's the dark side of the moon."

Oh dear! Not THIS ONE too!!!!!

From io9.com

Quote:
Is Ridley Scott's Alien prequel in trouble?

Rumor has it that Ridley Scott's run into a roadblock on his Alien prequel. Scott and the studio are allegedly battling it out over ratings, creative control and budget. Could this bickering stop the Alien film in its tracks?

Script Flags is reporting
that Fox and Ridley have been fighting over just about everything in his Alien movie.

Scott wants a budget of around $250m to make it a sci-fi spectacular, and is also pushing for an 18-rated level of violence and horror. Fox, however, don't plan on investing anywhere near that sum, and are keen to get a 15
rating to maximise the audience appeal.

We're choosing to take this rumor with a grain of salt, until more reports come in. The movie itself is still in the early alien face-hugger egg gestation stage, after all.

At the LEAST...shoot it for an 18 rating then show it in theaters on a 15 rating.
And when the Blu-ray comes out, include BOTH the theatrical 15, PLUS the unrated or 18 rating as an *extended edition*.

But that 250 budget is really something for an R rated movie. They have got to be able to make that back.

Yeah i can understand Fox wanting the budget down. So many movies these days have crazy budgets that are kind oof uncalled for. I am sure he can make a great movie for less. But the rating part pisses me off this movie has to be R no question about it. I hated how AvP even though it was lame anyways went for the PG-13 rating.

Scott is crazy "IF", & that IF can't be big enough, that "rumored" budget of $250 Million is true. Who does he think he is & what does he think he's trying to do: Make "THE TITANIC" of "AVATAR" of Science Fiction/Horror/Action Movies??!! To ME, there's No Way this story can be true. They can work there way around a rating to satisfy all concerned parties. What Great Epic Sci-Fi/Action/Horror film can't he make with a Reasonable budget of $100-150 Million; especially with what Computers can do now (not even mentioning what miniatures can do for sets, spaceships, etc.). So unless his office door has the words JAMES CAMERON on the outside, it ain't happ'nin'...

Maybe (IF the story is true), it's like when a Pro Athlete asks for $___ Million from the team, knowing that they'll end settling for a 70-80% roughly, of that Initial amount. That could be the case with Ridley asking for $250 mil., while in the back of his mind he knows they'll prob. say yes to $150 mil or so. That is, as I've said, IF the Story is True.

Scott likes set pieces and a lot of practical effects and it shows in the quality of his films.

They're planning two prequels I think. If so, I would imagine the second would have a smaller budget and use some sets from the first

But what if none of the sets are going to be used in the second? I think Ridlely is the kind of man who never wants to make the same movie twice, since he's never directed a sequel of his movies.

In a perfect world, Ridley should get everything he asks for, really sounds like he's very ambitious with this project, as he was with Alien and Blade Runner (among others).

He makes great movies but still $250 million is too much imo. A big budget is not always a good thing. I am sure he can still make a great movie with less.

Wow...didn't see the rating thing coming from Fox at all....

Seriously though, I'm not sure I believe it because they gave Predator an R rating. I think they'd be worried about the rating if the budget was really 250 million, which I understand. That's a ridiculous high budget, and I'm not sure it would ever make it back with that rating. But IF this is for real, Scott should cut the budget and he may be able to get his R rating.

But my question is: Is this the budget just for the first movie, or for both one and two because isn't he making two movies?

That is the exact first thought I had. Seems like the budget of 2 movies in a franchise. Then again, I'm not sure if they are being shot together.

Regarding the rating: does Fox recall the massive complaints when they turned Die Hard 4 into a PG-13 after the previous three were rated R? I suppose since it still made massive amounts of money...

I thought they were being shot back to back, so that's why I'm thinking that this is probably the budget for both movies, not one. That's way too much for just one. I'm really hoping it gets an R rating though. It really needs one to be honest.

Yeah that pissed me off but although it's not as good as 1 and 3 i still liked it. I think Die Hard should have stayed R but it turned out ok as PG-13 so if Scott could do that with Alien then that's great but keeping R is still the best thing to do.

Yea, LFoDH was good, but not as great as it could have been had it had it's R rating. Alien is a much more gruesome and dark series, it needs the R rating. It just doesn't work in a PG-13 setting. At least in my opinion.

True. But the way I see it is they just brought Predator back and it was R so why would they not let Alien? It doesn't really seem right...This rumor, the more I think about it, doesn't really add up to me. But that's just my opinion
