I was utterly shocked at how poorly it was done. the script was awful (though Lindholf may have had a big hand in that) and the editing was maniacally stupid. (even Charlize Theron overacted badly)
I have to say that Prometheus is easily Scott's worst film - he's made a few clunkers in his time, but this one really fails dismally.

It's a pity - the guy is a fantastic visualist, but he doesn't seem to have an eye for what constitutes a great script (and score!) - those few films of his which HAVE had a great script (and score!) now appear to be down to pure luck.

I'm still amazed that he brought in Damon Lindelof to revise the script - I mean, why?!?

Yup, great visuals and CGI ........ and ......... erm ......... what else did it have going for it?

Oh yes, Fassbender doing his best with some lousy dialogue.

And that's it.

What a shambles.

Yeah. I loved Fassbender in it. Actually, I wouldn't have minded an entire movie focused on David. The scenes of him completing menial tasks on board while the crew was in hibernation were some of the best scenes in the film.

It wasn't. When that droid was struck, his ear tore off and bled white. He was lying to Ripley to save the queen.

If your a talking about Alien 3 in the end: It's very much red blood and he shows a lot of pain. a droid wouldn't do that.

i expected this to be my movie of the year and in that respect im kind of disappointed. still a solid sci-fi flick and one of the best in recent years. when i read peoples complaints now and think back i guess there were things that didnt really make sense but nothing really bothered me while i was watching the film.

Seriously. People have forgotten how to just experince movies for what they are. Every film has to be broken down the second it is consumed. Everyone has to post their professionally analitical reviews right away and then either hate or love on whatever they just saw (and defend their own views like they were handed down from god himself).

I'm cool with people not liking this movie just like I am cool with the people who think Blade Runner is boring, but come on, the emotional immaturity of the extreme ends of the love/hate thing are lame.

Why do people have to hang out on threads for movies they don't like? Do you see me trolling the Transformers threads or the Fast and the Furious threads? Sheesh.

Well, what if someone likes parts of it and dislikes other parts? Is it okay to be included in the discussion then? Or is it only okay to add a post in this thread if you're totally in love with this movie? If that's the deal the thread should be re-titled to: "Prometheus: Don't Post In This Thread Unless You Think It's The Bee's Knees!"

Just checked and you are correct–red blood. His ear is hanging off of his head though so I'm not sure what the statement was–is he human? Kinda seems that way.

Prometheus may hit 68 Million this weekend, surprising Fox Execs. Bodes well for the expected sequels. One will be the true prequel to Alien and the other will be the continuation of the new Prometheus franchise according to many interviews will Scott and the two writers.

what's interesting is this is the ONLY site (that I've found that is) where the majority of people are liking the film. the other Home theater and movie sites are literally about 90% hate, to 10% like.

I've only been here and Dark Horizons, where the majority liked the film on both sites. Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB are currently crusing at about 80% each respectively (although the averages Over time are sure to bring those scores down more).

I love women with fat shapely asses, but I don't need to roam around to every message board to try and Justify or rationalize my tastes.

rotten tomatoes and IMDB are nothing but playgrounds for the "common" folk. not critical viewers such as serious film critique sites and Home theater sites like AVS, HDD, HTF, HTS Guardian etc.
