Oh....one last thing. Charlize Theron doesn't need frell me pumps (okay, platforms...). A t-shirt, sweats, and a pair of tennis shoes would do just fine, thank you.

I liked prometheus and think they did a good job of picking the protagonist.

Only problem i have with it are personal preferences. I would have liked more answers in certain areas. The whole movie is practically a detour, and ends just how it starts; going to find the makers in their home planet.

I liked it. I saw it in 3D which didn't do much for me. Wished I hadn't spent the extra dough for that. I think it would be fine in 2D.

Where as Robin Hood did not feel like a Ridley Scott film, Prometheus is very Ridleyesqe. Very stylistic, beautiful landscapes, complete detail.

I loved, loved LOVED
[Show spoiler] the surgery scene. I've never had stomach surgery, I hope I never have stomach surgery, but damn, that stapling scene almost drove me out of my chair

Fassbender rocks. Best part of the movie. I swore that
[Show spoiler]Charlize was going to be an android. Let the is she or isn't she a replicant debate begin!

My only disappointment was
[Show spoiler]the ending. Flying away in the alien space ship

Given Theron's box office draw, I'm thinking Scott/Fox will find a way to include her in one or both of the planned sequels.

[Show spoiler]Shaw's narrow escape from crushing could mean Vickers could have made it as well. There was no abruptly cut off scream. Perhaps she was unconcious and communications interrupted. After Shaw barely gets to the luxury module with just seconds of Oxygen left, Vickers could awaken and get to the pod as well. She obviously had more oxygen, since she had put on a suit just before the crash and escape to the surface in the pod.

The beginning of the sequel could involve Vickers confronting and dealing with the large proto facehgger trapped on the luxury module with the proto xenomorph. Lots of possibilities.

I think the
[Show spoiler]large proto-face hugger is dead, after most the face huggers from the originals die after pregnation, plus at the end of the film it isn't moving

I think the film was well made. The one thing I will say for it is that if the budget was approx 130 million KUDOS! Because I love film with REAL SETS! 20th Century FOX should be thrilled this film is already a huge hit for them. It will make more overseas than the US for sure and that budget is NOTHING in comparison to box office and eventual BLU sales.

Nah, I made a comment about trolling and the emotional immaturity connected with it. He tried to make a counter argument, but just ended up showcasing the exact points I was making by claiming I was trying to snuff out the haters (which, if he had read my post, he would have understood that wasn't the case–but whatever).

These threads are all the same. Any movie that has any ties to a previous film/franchise that carries a certain prestiege often get hotly debated. I am fine with debate, but the haters/fanboys (the kind of people that post 10's or 1's simply to boost or lower a score) are annoying. There is absolutely nothing productive about being on a thread and saying awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome, or hate it, hate it, hate it, hate it, over and over in an attempt dilude and change public opinion. It's the equivalent of crying out for one's mommie over rand over until her head explodes out of frustration. It's childish, unconstructive, and unnecessary. That was the point I made.

He tried to turn it into a fight.

Fantastic film, another great show from Ridley. Michael Fassbender was awesome, as expected.

. I appreciate the body horror element if the scene in Prometheus, but for a movie that is allegedly attempting to distance itself from Alien, it just feels too similar for me.
How is this movie trying to distance itself from Alien? Please. I want to hear this.

Ridley Scott and Damon Lindelof have claimed many times they didn't want this to follow into Alien or the series, it should feel like it's own film. And while I feel the film has a completely different tone to it within the way it is (Alien is brutal and realistic, while Prometheus is filled with elements of wonderment and exploration), they both wind up sharing a structure of tent pole moments, that are only slightly derivative.

That's why I didn't bring that one up, although I'm pretty sure she'd be fine with it considering she's happy with

Spinoff is probably the best way to describe this film.

[Show spoiler]I think we have the seeds of both sequels at the end. Shaw and David on the way to the Engineer home world (not LV 426) to continue the Prometheus franchise. Vickers and the proto xenomorph will be in the true Alien prequel which eventually ends up with the alien ship that crashes on LV-426 with a cargo hold filled with Alien eggs. We still have several hives on LV-223 with the possibility of more cocooned Engineers and Juggernauts.
