I really enjoyed the film. Its a nice potboiler that fans will have fun dissecting for years to come. Certainly not a perfect film, but I gave it a 4/5 (I'd actually lean closer to 4.5).

too many unanswered questions, I guess 2 hours was not enough to explain everything. I blame the writers for every bad thing in this movie !
and whoever put the trailers,tv spots together,I would like to kick his S.
they pretty much showed me the whole movie, except the last 10-15 minutes.
still Prometheus is one of the best addition to the Alien universe !
first day 2D bluray buy for me .
What does the black goo do?
Who was David talking to before the confrontation with Vickers?
What was the motivation of the Sacrifice Engineer?
Shaw's pregnancy/infestation?

Here are the answers to those and other ponderous questions from Scott and Lindelof. Don't read it if you haven't seen the film.

Prometheus Unbound: What The Movie Was Actually About

It's like the second hit from livejournal from a user named calavorn. He gives a real thorough breakdown of the "meaning" and significance of everything. It's full of spoilers so reader beware if you haven't seen the movie yet.
very interesting. makes me want to go back and give the movie a second chance

To answer your question:
[Show spoiler]
-Questionable language
-A scene depicting incineration of a human being
-Three/four scenes involving aliens crawling in and out of mouths
-Exploding chest
-A lady performing C-section on herself (very intense sequence)

That's why I enjoy open-ended tales. When a movie is allowed to breathe, it can make for fascinating discussions. If Scott gets his go-ahead, then we'll get a lot of our answers, but I hope a few minor threads remain loose when it's all said and done. I like endings like Blade Runner and Carpenter's Thing, where the story comes to an end, but the audience is left with a little something to decide and imagine in their own minds.

what is recommended???
No, you do not have to see them first. This movie is more of a spinoff than a prequel. In fact, it might make for an interesting experience to see Prometheus before the originals.

Absolutely. I've never been the type to need stuff spelled out for me. I've always read tons of personal stuff into films that likely didn't warrant it, so its nice to actually have a big, ambitious film like this that has certainly earned our time and effort to crack whatever code we find in it. Plus, going back and reading interviews, some of the filmmakers intentions are becoming clearer now that I've seen it. But I certainly have no gripe with some open-ended elements left intact.

I mean I'm still laughing about how mental people got for an answer to the end of Inception. It literally wasn't even a thought in my head. It was clear that the meaning was to be ambiguous and personal for each viewer. Prometheus, while quite different, shares some traits.

Crazy random internet super out of nowhere thought. Prometheus sequel expands
[Show spoiler]not only on connection to Alien but also connects to the X-Files universe as the black goo in Prometheus is the more advanced version of the black goo in X Files that would cause an alien to grow inside a host body. Shaw being the great grandaughter of Mulder and Scully also to be revealed. Yeah I know I deserve a kick in the stomach.

I hear ya, but this movie hasn't really left me with anything to discuss.

It was all laid out pretty clear. My only question was answered, and being juiced was the only reason I had the question anyway.

I love good 3D,but honestly dont waste your money. The only decent 3D is the scene at the end when the shite hits the fan and they are running for the hills.

I really enjoyed this movie, and can't wait to really delve into it a few times once it comes out on blu. I gotta feeling i missed a few of the things i am wondering about. As far as "style" goes, well this is how sci fi should be done.

It is deep, accurate, and very important to the extent that many of the computer screens float in the air.

The film also has some of the best landscapes since Planet Earth (the series).

See it in 3D.

There was one shot where there's a foreground character partially obscuring something on the right side of the screen, and I swear half the audience tried tilting to the left to see around her!

One thing bothering me about Scott's choices for this film:

Are we to believe that people dream with typical cuts and closeups and medium shots and dissolves? That was a very unimaginative version of dreaming for such a detail-minded director.

wow, thanks for that link. not trying to be mean to anyone but that interview showed just what a psyched out looney Ridley is belief wise. not only that, I LOATHE directors who create questions just for the sake of "making you think". coming from a literature background It goes against EVERY major structure of storytelling. and it drives me BAT BONKERS.

My first viewing last night with my daughter was in 2D, but I'm gonna hit up a 3D viewing by myself on Tuesday. The consensus on the 3D for this movie seems to go back and forth, so I'll decide for myself.

Prometheus is not as intelligent as it attempts to be but one has to wonder if this was the film Ridley Scott had intended because judging from Scott's notoriety for releasing differing alternate cuts, I am eagerly anticipating a Director's Cut to see how much more meat the film would have had had it been longer. However as it stands, Prometheus works incredibly well as a science-fiction thriller. There are many intense sequences that will leave you pulling back from the screen with unease and while it takes a little while to find its momentum, there is never a dull moment in Prometheus. It is an incredibly watchable film to watch and possibly rewatch to figure out the unanswered questions in the film. There is no guarantee that answers will be provided but without a doubt, this film will surely generate conversations and discussions on fan-boards for years to come.

4/5.

Thumbs up

Entertaining Sci-fi movie after sometime, Rated it 4. But i dont think it will be a masterpiece or classic in the coming years unless they expand the universe with a great sequel. Unanswered questions are all fine, but i only have trouble with characters.
[Show spoiler]Apart from Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender, others are there just for numbers . While watching the movie i didn't care who dies or not. Charlize Theron's character is a absolute disaster, even when she died it served no purpose. I expected her to be alive after she escapes from the Prometheus ship. I feel if Noomi and Charlize went off with Fassbender that would have been brilliant.

Overall a great movie, could have been much more if there were better characters.
P.S. : I am yet to watch any of the Alien movies, so i had no big expectations.
