Content is still pretty thin, with a variety of IMAX documentaries available along with a handful of film titles including Spider-Man: Far From Home, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Bumblebee, The Angry Birds Movie 2. I requested a comprehensive list of available titles, but the IMAX representative at CES said, “IMAX Enhanced title availability naturally varies by region and digital retailer, so there are some sensitivities we’re working through in preparing a comprehensive list approved by partners for public distribution. We hope to have these addressed shortly.”

However, according to IMAX, all 4K Blu-ray titles from Sony going forward will be IMAX Enhanced, with The Angry Birds Movie 2 being the first disc available. Both and Terminator: Dark Fate will be released in the Enhanced format.

So even though x movie may not have been released in IMAX it'll get an IE disc from Sony? That's....weird.

What does that even mean then, every future Sony UHD title will be messed with?

Fill the screen, reduce the grain!

That wording is weird and gives me a bad impression. I hope they're not planning on pushing the stupid IE brand over all else.

Crap, I say! If that's true regarding future Sony 4k discs.

IMAX Enhanced is a downgrade.

A shame, considering Sony was generally at the top of the 4K discs in terms of quality.

My projector supports IE, and ill check it out when a uhd i like gets it, but i'm not holding out much hope it will be anything special. Going forward, i'd imagine digitally shot films may benefit somehow, but if they're going to release back catalog titles with freshly scrubbed grain, count me out.

Sound&Vision mag has never been wrong, right? If Sony said that in a press release, a lot more credible, but a IMAX rep at a show telling a magazine rep, good luck.

But Terminator: Dark Fate is not a Sony Title, it's a Paramount title if I'm not mistaken. Are they releasing an IMAX UHD BD of it?

I don't believe so. According to the release, Paramount is using Dolby Vision (probably FEL encoding as that's what they normally do, which is great) and Dolby Atmos.

IMAX doesn't play nicely with Dolby Labs. It would then be HDR10 or HDR10+ (which supposedly really does nothing unless you have a crap, low nit TV) and 7.1.4 DTS: X. And as a bonus, the possible misuse of DNR and Edge Enhancement, with the potential for an altered aspect ratio. Happy, happy - joy, joy.
