At least THX actually have measurable guidelines. With IMAX everything seems to be very wishy-washy. They don’t even half screen size versus viewing distance recommended ratio, and everything seems to go back to subjective Type of certification. The clearest example is how can Sony be IMAX and Hanst certified when they don’t even have HDR 10+, also they mentioned that for those Sony master series when they have IMAX enhanced flag the TV will change that precept to cinema home. The reason being is not that cinema home is perfect for IE, But because it’s the closest to IMAX standard. So why only closest to Eyemax standard but not actual IMAX preset?

The specific DVD you speak of (and others like it, from Republic/Artisan and Fox) were minted from THX-certified LD masters and simply ported to DVD with THX's approval, so they are the ones to blame, for not putting their foot down when the companies asked them to certify the media. It wasn't until several years later, after the brand took a hit from criticism as DVD and home theatre was taking off, that THX had a "the head, the tail, the whole damn thing" certification process covering the entire process of disc production, that was in line with what the brand and certification was supposed to represent. They also introduced extensive equipment and mixing certifications for home media at that time. It's more or less when the brand and it's recognition peaked.

About Dolby Vision, we may see its REAL benefits in the future but right now its so called improvements are subtle. |

Just checked my disc and youre right.. Now I remember telling people on the forums that it was "easy" to tell which BvS scenes were Imax because they become crystal clear and lose the grain. |

Oh, those scenes look SO good >_<. At least there’s the possibility of getting those eventually, unlike Last Jedi...why film with an IMAX camera and not use that aspect ratio?!

Thats because they used good cameras for the entire movie so the gap in PQ is minimal compared to some other movies. |
