Truth is DTS bought SRS audio tech and are desperately trying to make a square object fit a round hole. Atmos caught them completely off guard and they had nothing to compete with it. Which is what happens when a company that doesn't innovate relies on others. And yes, it's only the third year and Atmos' lead continues to widen. Just wait until ATSC 3.0 and 4K satellite broadcasting become normal. |

I like how you fail to mention Criteron or Arrow lol who also almost exclusively use DTS and that should say A LOT Last edited by King Crimson; 12-28-2018 at 07:48 PM. |

Warner has done catalog titles like Superman, The Matrix trilogy and the aforementioned Blade Runner. Paramount has done titles like Saving Private Ryan and Braveheart. And Steven Spielberg didn't believe it was revisionist to remix Schindler's List or Saving Private Ryan in Atmos. So how has the lead dropped??? |

I have a Pioneer SC LX-76 9.1 A/V receiver (sold in the US with the Elite Brand) but set up to 5.1 as I much prefer my main 3 front speakers bi-amped and the Blade Runner UHD BD Atmos mix is a sonic mess downmixed to 5.1. Let's not forget that Dolby Atmos/TrueHD 7.1 have metadata that tells the receiver how to dowmixes these mixes to 5.1. One way to overcome this is to set up the player HDMI audio output to PCM, this way all it does is decode the lossless stream ignoring all metadata delivering 7.1 to your receiver and it will do its own downmixing. This works for me with some Atmos/Dolby TrueHD mixes. On the other hand DTS:X has no metadata about how to downmix the track to 5.1, I still have to hear a DTS:X audio track that sounds bad or weird downmixed to 5.1. |

See sentence literally right before that. "The companies also announced the first IMAX Enhanced titles to be released on streaming platforms and Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc." |

I wonder what will be the first IMAX Enhanced streaming service? I might guess FandangoNow since they already use DTS audio on some devices.
Edit: Lol! Right after I posted that, this popped up on my feed: https://www.cnet.com/news/ces-2019-f...hanced-movies/ |

Live stream doesn't start till 5pm PST so...what have they not revealed??? With how many versions Deadpool and Deadpool 2 have got so soon after each other that argument holds no water. Especially considering how successfully Venom has been for them so why wouldn't they exactly? Last edited by King Crimson; 01-07-2019 at 05:11 PM. |
