The only reasoning would be Sony pushing IE on the newer models as a selling point since the other ones you mentioned were on the way out of the market.

I did a little research online and found that Sony is not going to support this Filmmaker Mode. That is going to be DOA imo.

Pump the brakes there, guv'nor. No one was talking about the merits, or lack thereof IE. Simply that this model tv had it and these models do not. That's it. I guess I should have mentioned we were in a no spin zone. But no worries, rest assured you have my vote for mayor of anti-Imax Enhancementville. Spin away. Lol.

Once again, you got me wrong. I do like IE mastered videos, I do like IE mstered soundtracks, I do like IE capable receivers/processors. IE certified display? That’s worse than the claim of $2,000 HDMI cables being better than a $10 ones.

are those tagged as IE there ? I was browsing Fandango Now when I search imax a few movies come up (Spider Man FFH, Alpha, Venom to name a few) but I don't see the IE tag on them just 4K HDR. My Sony tv is not IE "Certified" just in case if matters.

They may not be tagged IE but according to others you will get the expanded AR for Imax scenes for FFH

I guess with HDRadio going down the tubes XPERI the owner of DTS had to invent something new to shore up business so they convinced a few vendors that IMAX Enhanced was the next marketing tactic to maintain their presence on various gear.

So FandangoNOW with support IMAX Enhanced, its like the remains of UltraViolet service are regrouping to stay relevant. At least Vudu played it smart compared to Lionsgate!

With Atmos on disc and DD+ on digital, the future for DTS does not look all that great

So this is just the FN stream right? The disk is not IMAX Enhanced is it? Has IE been announced on a subsequent disk release for FFH?

Angry Chickens and Spooderman are supposed to be IE on disc according to what the PR company told me but it seems like they’re not

Right now yes, just FN only. No announcements for a disc version of FFH with IMAX Enhancement.

Slightly-amused Chicken's press release did confirm it will be, Spatula-Man got the boot unfortunately.

peanut gallery here.

the only films i'm interested in with IMAX Enhanced, is Avengers Infinity War and Endgame; and only if it means we get the IMAX ratio at home. Fill my screen dammit!

Sigh. These times and the “fill my screen” crowd still exists

Some of us saw the legitimate IMAX version in cinemas, and want to see it at home too. Is that too much to ask for?

Sometimes, yes. Especially if that's the only version made available.

Some of us have scope screens, so random ratio changes are a real bother.

Plus, even if you don't have a scope screen, you can NEVER and I do mean NEVER recreate the IMAX experience in your home unless you happen to have an IMAX theater in your mansion. The ratio changes don't have the impact, so keeping the ratio the same may actually be a better aesthetic choice for smaller screen (projection or flat panel) viewing.

And you end up with limited 7.1.4 DTS: X tracks rather than Dolby Atmos tracks because IMAX doesn't want to work with Dolby.
