And yet because of all the quick cutting and fast movement in most action scenes I'd say that the effect of the embiggening is perceptually minimal. Eh, whatever floats your boat.

But Disnee/Marvel are actually going IMAX Enhanced, if only for streaming thus far? That should be far bigger news?

CM looked amazing in IMAX. While they're at it, hope we can finally get Infinity War and Endgame on IMAX Enhanced.

That would be awesome. I’d love to revisit all my MCU films and watch the IMAX version

TCL's 8K TV receives 'IMAX Enhanced' certification

Quote:
The 'IMAX Enhanced' program for TVs, audio systems and content was launched in 2018. It is not a format but rather a performance standard based on some loosely defined specifications. The stamp of approval will let a TV pull down IMAX Enhanced content from participating streaming services.

TCL has announced that its new 8K "QLED" LCD TV (model X915) has received IMAX Enhanced certification. Besides an LCD panel with zone dimming LED, X915 features Android TV, HDMI 2.1, support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, and a built-in soundbar with Dolby Atmos support.

Ironically, the TV does not support DTS:X, which is part of the IMAX Enhanced program.

IMAX enhanced is really confusing.

So when I am watching, for example, Guardians of the Galaxy and the image goes fullscreen (where before there were black bars top and bottom), what is that?

What's the difference between the above and an IMAX enhanced TV?

Image quality wise? no difference. IE TV just allows users to access IE Exclusive streaming movies which otherwise not available on disc.

I have a Imax Enhanced projector, however I bought a receiver that does not have Imax Enhanced....seems like it is not worth spending $2,100 for a new receiver with Imax Enhanced, unless I am missing something?

I personally like the effect of shifting-aspect ratios, although I get why people would be annoyed by it. It works the best when you're rocking a really big screen with a projector, though. I'm actually less interested in films that have the entire film in an "Open-matte" format, like Blade Runner 2049 or the two Russo Bros.' Avengers films. I really like the shifting ratio for certain sequences in Nolan's films or some of the 3D presentations of MCU movies like Guardians of the Galaxy and Dr. Strange.

I'm still waiting for my IMAX transfer of MI: Ghost Protocol. I saw it in IMAX and it just ain't the same watching those Dubai scenes in scope-format.

M:I - Ghost Protocol really was the perfect movie for IMAX. The scene transition when Cruise walks up to the glass is so fluid and makes you feel like you're entering a new experience. I don't think I've experienced that same effect with any other movie, despite other movies featuring more IMAX scenes.

the Doctor Strange 3D blu-ray has a shot where the aspect ratio changes in the same shot, no jump-cut.
