Oh, you'd be surprised. There are very few people, even on an 'enthusiast' forum like this, who run their TVs with no sweetening at all.

Correct but for low quality and streaming sources, a little bit of reality creation helps.I had sent mine at 20. All the other processing turned off. It looks so good that I simply don't have any reason to go back to the disc unless the expanded versions become available on disc or they are gone from D+.

Ultimately the settings are down to individual preferences. To some Dolby Vision Dark can look dark which means DV bright would become the logical choice. Wearing the purist hat is by choice.

Yes. Disney+ is planning to include DTS track. I don’t know how that will work.

Aren't there a lot of TVs that don't support DTS?

Why is that relevant? It’s simply going to be a separate soundtrack so people can choose that if they want. Afterall DTSX is part of IE requirements.

I thought that was what you were referring to when you said you didn't know how it would work.

I still don’t know how it will work from the legal standpoint because IIRC streaming standard requires at least DD 2.0 to be used. Perhaps there is a loophole somwhere. From technical standpoint they will just change the audio stream and use lossy version of DTSX.

Ah I see. Thanks for the clarification. I didn't know that Dolby Digital was required for streaming.

So, no comments on IMAX Enhanced seemingly being dead on disc now with new releases from Sony like Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Ghostbusters: Afterlife being DV/Atmos only?

True… it’s another unneeded licensed format. Obviously dts no longer sees value in the physical space so they’re going after the streaming services. I’m still fine without. This is all a licensing game with IMAX. My non-IMAX licensed discs work just fine without the IMAX Enhanced logo.

No one really cares about IMAX Enhanced, it seems gimmicky anyway.

Except when it comes to streaming, DTS' lack of efficiency has bit it on the ass on more than multiple occasions. BRAVIA CORE has lossless audio but the rest of the services use DD or DD+ for a reason. AC-4 is so efficient it made DTS withdraw their ATSC 3.0 codec before mass testing began. I expect to see streaming services use AC-4 before switching to DTS.

With the announcement of Spider-Man: No Way Home (DV/Atmos), no new announcements from Shout Factory, it really seems IMAX Enhanced on disc is dead.

I also have yet to see DTS audio on Disney+

As a side note it also seems HDR10+ on disc is dying on the vine - multiple Universal & Warner titles have been either just HDR10 or DV/Atmos (with HDR10 layer) only, I doubt they've reverted to an earlier authoring toolset - more like the latest authoring packages have dropped HDR10+

Yep. IMAX Enhanced basically just means "expanded aspect ratio on streaming" now.

This was to be expected! There wouldn't even be an HDR10+ if it wasn't for Samsung, who've refused to support and buy the license to Dolby Vision, and implemented the technology on their TVs. It wasn't like they couldn't afford it! If Samsung only would've just licensed Dolby Vision for their TVs in the first place, this would have never happened. In regards to IMAX Enhanced, it was doomed from the beginning because it was only a marketing ploy anyway, and it wasn't worth the investment.

Yeah and physical media supporters are just supposed to be oh so scared that Samsung stopped making players.

Screw'em. I hated their players anyway.

IMAX Enhanced, HDR10+, DTS streaming audio are all pointless, who needs them to enjoy the theatrical experience.
