It won’t work using current devices. It will require new hardware/TV.

This seems too little too late. There are many brands that have practically abandoned DTS, like LG TVs, which require DTS to be converted to LPCM before being passed thru via eARC, and Sonos, who begrudgingly added support to basic lossy 5.1 DTS last year. It's ironic the only market that seems to care about DTS are the disc and AVR markets, which go hand and hand with one another.

On a different note, I feel Disney's physical media deal with Sony may be the last chance any of these Disney+ expanded ratio IMAX titles have towards being released on disc, and the odds are still very slim.

They won't release those on disc, they need to keeps us still subscribed for D+ and this is one way.

Besides the “IMAX Enhanced” DTS for D+ will be the lossy version of DTS anyway, akin to DD+

Streaming level lossy DTS sounds like garbage so I'm wondering what they came up with here. Probably took them this long to get it sounding decent.

No thanks. Useless format not supported by many devices. Even though my Sony 77A80J supports all formats, the EDID sent is not decoded by many soundbars and AVRs. Also same lossy bit rate of 768 Kbps. Let me guess, they will boost the audio by few dB and people will succumb to louder the better situation and claim DTS sounds better

Yeah, the demo I heard was meh. Sound pretty much like DD (not even DD+) during the press showcase a couple of years ago at CES. Regardless, it’s simply another pile with different name. Unless they can make it lossless, then it’s pointless. I’m not upgrading my TV and/or receiver for a lossy compression in these days of lossless audio.

Not sure if it's a region thing but here i Nordic countrys (Sweden) Marvels, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Q, Black Panther, Thor: Love and Thunder and probably the rest too have Dolby Atmos on Disney+. It doesn't say so on the banner (only IMAX and Dolby Vision) but under details it states DA. Or is the list specifik for IMAX+Atmos as I haven't tried them yet on AppleTV?

We also have Guardians of the Galaxy 2 as IMAX/DV+Atmos

Apologies, you're absolutely right. Thanks for pointing this out, great attention to detail! In fact, all IMAX Enhanced titles do have Atmos on D+. The issue was just a minor oversight on my end—I forgot to update the formula when taking a snapshot of my database. I've gone ahead and updated the post accordingly.

Do my Onkyo receiver should display Imax Enhanced when watching a ImaxE movie in D+?

I believe it only happens with flagged DTS: X tracks. DTS is in partnership with IMAX for "Enhanced" home material.

It just seems so weird that Christopher Nolan's movies aren't IMAX enhanced. So it leads me to believe.

Nolan is not one for awesome audio most of the time. If anything it's bass and obscured dialog.

No. DD+ does NOT have IE. Only DTS:X with IE flag. On Pioneer receivers you can force DTS:X to use IE processing even without IE flag.

Bizarre. You'd think Neural:X would be enough.

If you have an imax enhanced tv like some sonys, hisense U8K etc and a capable Imax enhanced AVR like the Onkyo RZ50 you should be good to go
