I was going to mention, The Lavender Hill Mob but see it has a region-free release. Also see The Ladykillers have a US release:

I like to see The Cruel Sea, Dunkirk, It Always Rains on Sunday, The Man in the White Suit get US releases. Though I only think the last two would be Criterion options. I need to catch up on the rest of the Ealing library.

Also long past due, Stray Dog, get a US BluRay release. It IMHO is one of Kurosawa's best films.

Several people in this forum have asked me to start a blog that archives my reviews and my write-ups. I have not done so, because I've always figured that a movie review blog would be too self-indulgent.

However...

I gave in, and decided to start an account on Letterboxd.

Right now, it's mostly reviews of newer films that I saw at the theater, but I've also retroactively added some movie content reviews from my write-ups on this site.

Update: I have 650 or so reviews up now that I've imported from this site after smoothing over some rough edges. (It turns out that my reviews here had a ton of grammatical errors.)

I've been chuckling at my past reviews of Criterion Collection titles from a few years ago, when I pretended to understand films by Ozu, Antonioni, and the like. I'm sure that everybody would agree that these reviews are the most unintentionally comical things that I've ever written.

I'm also realizing that I really want to go back and revisit certain titles that I have not thought about in a long while, namely Revanche and The Great Beauty.

I'd prefer Criterion give us Dersu Uzala before upgrading anymore current releases.

Revanche was very much a gateway drug to blind buying BDs for me. While one might not necessarily think of it as eye-candy it really is gorgeous at times and I was really glad I didn't rent a DVD or stream it for my first viewing.

And yeah, it's definitely due for another look soon. Overdue, in fact.

Taste of Cherry upgrade would be incredible. And I think a John Hughes film is in the cards.

Didn't Warner announce Pat Garrett for the Archives Collection already though?

No. They did release Cable Hogue and Ride the High Country this year though, if that's what you're thinking of.

It's long overdue for a release from them. Only reason I added it is because I saw that they added it to Filmstruck recently, so I figure we'll get a BD release sooner than later.

Yeah, there has been a ton of clues hinting at a box or a series of Hughes releases. The Breakfast Club was a recent newsletter clue from a couple of months ago and 16 Candles was in the New Years drawing. Hughes has also had a phantom page up for a while now.

I'm STILL waiting for my blu upgrade of Paul Schrader's "Mishima". I heard a 4K master had been made. That's the kind of film that blu ray was made for. It's already in the Collection, just upgrade it, already....

Im pretty sure hey said they will upgrade it when the stock of the DVD gets low? Not sure though as I read this a long time ago.

Yeah I read that too several years ago it seems like.

Really hope they are able to recreate that gorgeous DVD packaging for the BLU edition.
