I actively avoid Criterion boxsets (I own only two) due to reasons that are probably wholly uninteresting to American consumers, but the Sternberg-Dietrich one will definitely burn a hole in my pocket.

Very interested in the AMoLaD, too. Great month.

Those are the three at the top of my list too. But I suspect I'll have them all eventually.

It appears the Sternberg/Dietrich set will be released July 3rd, which will help my budgeting. Such as it is.

Might be just me but I'm not a big fan of that Matter of Life and Death cover. Still, glad to have this finally out on blu in US.

Damn! This is a hell of a month. Not sure about Bull Durham, but otherwise I'll get everything. Only seen A Matter of Life and Death and Blonde Venus, I'll make sure to watch my recording of Scarlet Empress on the DVR to get a taste of what to expect with the Sternberg/Dietrich set. I'm interested in what anyone has to say about the films in this announcement.

The BFI disc is a separate restoration, which the Cinematheque Française allowed them to release out of respect for Brownlow's work on Napoleon. The rest of the worldwide rights, including the US, are still held by them, and they're working on an entirely distinct restoration, they claim from more complete elements (though it's as-yet unclear to what extent—frames, scenes, seconds, minutes). Current timeline for that restoration's completion is 2019/20, last I read.

Gonna start saving right this second for the Sternberg set.

I'm actually all in for those double dips for once.

And A Matter of Life and Death better be a top notch transfer. What a visual stunner!
