I've been saving A Trip to the Moon for today; this will be the first time I've ever seen it. And, of all the space race films I have, For All Mankind seemed most appropriate.

"Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the Moon. July 1969, A.D. We came in peace for all Mankind."
For All Mankind was one of the best documentaries I've watched. I've been meaning to get Flicker Alley's newest release of A Trip to the Moon, it really disappointed me when I watched it on TCM it was the all B&W version. Also, another film I would recommend is or maybe the excellent Fritz Lang Silent set released by Kino:

Its amazing how accurate Woman in the Moon predicted events 40 years later.

I'll also second that. I loved it, got the region-free Indicator Harryhausen Vol 2 set that had it when Deep Discount one of there 15% off sales before they started collecting sales tax.

I think Inland Empire is Lynch's best film. I don't really see why it's any more difficult to appreciate than Lost Highway or Mulholland Drive.

I'm thinking it could be that awkward tea party, Laura Dern playing hide and seek with herself or maybe it's just the rabbits.....

Have you watched Inland Empire many times? I have read from many critics its his best film, but my goodness, just about every film he's made has been great... not a single dud (and yeah, that includes Dune, despite him not being the screenwriter), unlike a famous director such as Danny Boyle (whose film Yesterday I just saw in theaters and wasn't too impressed).

The way it’s shot looks unappealing. That’s the biggest gripe I hear from people. He should’ve just used traditional film stock

I thought you were able to preorder 1984 for $19.99 earlier in the sale. I should have done that but since it will be released Tuesday then isn't it still apart of the sale?

Thank you both for the suggestions. I’ll check out both before long. Right now, I am horribly backlogged. I took a break from film watching for about a month to catch up on some tv, and now I need to get my butt moving again.

They have a booth, not a panel. They've been doing various events at it over the last few days but haven't really made any announcements.
If they are going to announce the set at SDCC, then it would have to be today. Which is technically "next week" now since it's Sunday.

Because it visually looks like garbage.

Big Lynch fan but Inland Empire’s aesthetic just does not work for me at all.

I see the aesthetic choice for Inland Empire as an anti-hollywood statement.

I imported the UK blu of Inland Empire and as much as you can tell it isn't sourced from some glorious HD presentation, there's something about it (compression maybe) that just makes it look better overall than my DVD. This was probably my 5th or 6th time watching the film and I just find it fascinating. I have my ideas of what goes on in it beyond the basic plot, but when I try to explain them I just think "oh wait, is that right?" haha. If it came out via Criterion I would most definitely pick it up day 1 of whatever sale follows its release!

I'd personally love to see it sourced from a filmout. It was shown theatrically that way despite not being shot on film. The DVD and Blu obviously came from whatever source was prepared from the original digital files & that's ok.

When I was in a college video production class, we used the Panasonic PD-150, which was the same model Lynch used on Inland Empire. While the quality leaves much to be desired, it's incredibly easy to use and probably as good as SD gets.

The fact it's SD gives the film a "behind the scenes documentary from hell" feel that's oddly appropriate.
