I always believed JJB’s earlier film Diva would have been the perfect Criterion release. But they would have to wrestle it from Studio Canal and have a access to the original elements. The German import looks abysmal.

Will probably only blind buy Betty Blue for this month.

Not a fan of The Daytrippers, but if a relationship with Mottola leads to a Criterion release of his masterpiece Adventureland then I'll be a happy camper.

I love Adventureland! I’d welcome a Criterion release!

If somebody told me that Criterion was going to announce an "Eve", this is not the one I would've guessed, but I'm glad to see it. I've almost bought the current Blu several times, and it's my favorite of the ten Best Pictures I don't own yet.

I had the Anchor Bay DVD, but many years ago some dastardly person borrowed it and didn't return it. Love Philippe Rousselot's painterly cinematography in that one. And the SCORE!

I used to have a big crush on Hope Davis, but most of her movies are not quite in my genre wheelhouse.

That was pretty underwhelming and pretty disappointing. Nothing for me unless I decide to get curious about Cold War.

I had a feeling Cold War is gonna be part of the collection someday. But wow, I didn’t realize it’d be this soon! I really need to watch this now.

Yeah, it seemed like she and Parker Posey were the "it" girls of indie film back then. Speaking of Hope Davis, American Splendor is just begging for a Criterion Release.

Yes it is! Kino Lorber just released Mumford, which is charming little film from Lawrence Kasdan. Incredible ensemble cast. Hope is fantastic in that as well.

Interesting slate of November announcements. Betty Blue and The Daytrippers are curious oddities. I might watch these and see if I like them (before I buy the BDs).

And Ms. Hopkins. She has three movies already (4 if you count the Eclipse series, with Lubitsch's The Smiling Lieutenant), and those two hated each other.

I wonder what is holding up the Cranes are Flying upgrade. They have already been screening the new restoration in theaters last month.

I also find it interesting that there are no upgrades for this month. How often does that occur?

All About Eve officially becomes the tenth Best Picture Oscar winning film to be part of the collection. Although, Hamlet (1948) is only available on DVD for now.

I saw Eve only once, and I think I need to rewatch it just to get a better understanding of the film. I guess there was just too much dialogue between characters, and I need to better appreciate the film for what it is.

True words. I'm shocked a boutique label hasn't released it yet (or maybe the rights holder doesn't want to license it). It was one of 2003's most acclaimed indie films.

Over the moon at Bette Davis being added in the collection! "All About Eve" is a bit confusing (I was planning to buy the original Blu Ray, or at least the non-digibook one, as it's a decent size), but "Now, Voyager"... Incredibly happy about that! And that cover is to die for! Regardless, both rank among my favorite movies ever!

But yes, I would have rather had "The Letter" or "The Little Foxes" over "Eve," as I adore those, and those are screaming for a Blu Ray.
