Some of the movies that are being released are movies that I never seen, but I do want to check out such as Man Pushes Cart, Irma Vep, Three Fantastic Journeys, and Secrets & Lies when they show up on streaming. The other stuff don't hold my interest at the moment.

I also forgot to meniton, I do plan on buying Touki Bouki. I really enjoy it despite some scenes in it that I'm not a fan of.

The Furies will be, as it includes the novel. Not part of this month's announcements, but Mandabi might be a digipak as it will include the novella.

I swear I'm not trolling, but I think I must be the only person who doesn't really want BRINGING UP BABY on a Criterion Blu. I'll take it from WAC, but I just don't need it on Criterion. I love Hawks, so I'm not sure what's going on with me, but for many years I've just thought his movies are too damn long.

For me the last 20-25 minutes of BRINGING UP BABY or HATARI are just deadly. In BABY the humor finally wears out and in HATARI it's like he turned over the final scenes to someone at Disney. I don't seem to have any issues with his westerns, but some of his other films are just interminable and wear out their welcome. I don't mind being the sole person here who thinks this and I'm not debating anyone who feels differently, I'm just saying that there is at least one person on this board who doesn't need BRINGING UP BABY on Criterion.

How does a package start out moving in the complete opposite direction of where it’s being shipped to?

...gotta love the Post Office.
In order to be authentic, all shirts are worn by Jon Mulvaney for a minimum of 24 hours before being sent to the customer. It's all there in the fine print, sheesh.

BRINGING UP BABY is a flawless, perfect masterpiece IMO. So is ARSENIC AND OLD LACE. Both deserve the Criterion treatment.

So what's the next title that's being anticipated on the Criterion Collection now that the Wong Kar wai set and Memories of Murder have release dates?

There really aren't that many releases that we know are coming for sure from Criterion at this point. Many have speculated on an Akira Kurosawa boxset, so maybe that?

My other Criterion shirt arrived with some kind of mysterious stain on it.

...I thought it was chalk.

I Know Where I'm Going! (1945)
On Feb 29th, 2020, at the restoration roundtable at Wexner Center for the Arts, Margaret Bodde of The Film Foundation confirmed that Criterion was working with them to get their restored version released. The restoration itself seems to be finished in early 2019, according to The Guardian interview with Thelma Schoonmaker.

The Man Who Wasn't There (2001)
From Team Deakins Podcast #19, released on Jun 10th, 2020, Lee Kline, the technical director of Criterion said the film had been on their schedule for a long time but they hadn't gotten into it yet.

Personally, I'm waiting with anticipation for an Atom Egoyan set, if it ever happens. Having The Sweet Hereafter and Exotica in one collection would be great!

Some Like it Hot is one of my favorite films. TBH, I didn't actually see Bringing Up Baby until last year, so while I would pre-order it Day 1 it's far from being near the top of favorite screwball comedy list, as that would be Some Like it Hot and then It Happened One Night. Though this is probably time for me to also say I like the 1931 version of the, The Front Page more than His Girl Friday. Now, that I admitted that last tidbit of information, I'm going to go hide for cover.

I've honestly never been able to finish Bringing Up Baby. Hawks is a favorite director and I find the humor in his 'straight' movies perfectly judged, often with impeccable throwaway delivery, but his comedies take a more OTT approach and mistake volume and rapid fire dialogue for wit, with every joke telegraphed and semaphored and beaten into submission on delivery while the plot conversely seems dragged out to a leaden degree. To compound the heresy, despite a good cast I also think his version of The Front Page is the weakest and only picked up the Criterion for alternate cut of the Milestone version.
