You should make a new Criterion. OOP Thread with this list. Confirmed, and possibles.

It's would save Mulvaney a headache if Criterion was upfront, and put up a blog post/email blast about this like they have in the past.

Stops completely, no way to get past the freeze through chapter stops or fast forwarding or anything like that. Suuuuucks.

Just looked at my last UPS label and there's no value listed on the address label or box. I'm not aware that USPS labels would have the value on the label unless there is extra insurance applied.

I'm not sure how the reshipper would know the value unless they have an arrangement with certain warehouses which seems unlikely, they open the package to check contents or repackage before reshipping, or you told them the actual value

By the way, if anyone wants this on blu-ray, it was released by Eureka back in 2014. It's still in print, but who knows for how long. It is RB-locked, though.

Mine does the same. Freezes near the end of the robbery and will no longer play.

Paramount is pulling these titles back as it launches it's Paramount Plus streaming platform (which is also absorbing CBS All Access). Depending on how successful that is, they may re-forge ties with Criterion in the future. For now, they want all the exclusive content they can get.

Fingers crossed -- my original disc played right through that mark. It has that double layered dark golden tint which I find very difficult to distinguish from the described bronzing as long as the bronzing is uniform. I know in the past when I've had bad Criterion discs, the problem is either they won't load at all ( Lady Vanishes from the standalone itme, not the item in the boxset which appears to pressed later) or it seems to freeze with where I suspect the layer change is (SUmmer Hours and Walkabout). I guess that makes the most sense and why most people have disc that fail at apprx the same spot

Yep, this obviously has something to do with the overall strategy. Just speculating, but I wouldn't be surprised if Paramount might be informing Criterion/enacting a contract clause "We're ending this licensing agreement upon finished sales of your current stock of titles X, X, X."

So there may be thousands of copies of other Paramount-licensed titles still around regardless...but then again they seem to be clear that "Medium Cool" at least is sticking around... Will they confirm the rest?

Criterion of course is "damned if you do, damned if you don't" in terms of giving notice to its customers/fan base. I can see the reasoning for not announcing anything prior to the Flash Sale or at all, even in a niche market -- they don't want scalpers to scrap up everything, either on sale days or simply due to OOP announcements.

Then again, it's possible that Paramount only informed them within the last week or something...?

"Parallax View" shot back up to 39.99 on Amazon today...it must be selling big regardless!

Have everything that went OOP except for Days of Heaven, but when I start to expand my Malick collection I’ll just pick up the upcoming Paramount disc. I ordered Harold and Maude when it was still $27 on Amazon yesterday. Will get Medium Cool when it’s restocked. Moonrise, Election, and Seconds will go on my list for July.

How many unreleased Paramount licenses does Criterion still have? Erich von Stroheim's The Wedding March has been in Criterion limbo for almost a decade and a half, but I don't necessarily see that film as a title that Paramount would want to reclaim for its streaming service or Paramount Presents line.

Since this seemingly went unnoticed, yes, quite a bit of the Eclipse titles are streaming on the Channel. For all I know, it could be all of them. I was considering picking up some more Eclipse titles during the last Flash sale, but I decided that at this point I might as well just watch them streaming rather than spend money on barebones DVDs. Instead I added a whole bunch of them to my watchlist.

I'm no expert but aren't streaming rights and physical media rights two different things?

Paramount are also releasing these OOP Criterion titles on Blu themselves (with digital codes), so it has to do with the video licences more than streaming rights. If Criterion also held streaming rights to these Paramount titles (they don't), then it would be a different story.

Speaking of digital codes with these former Criterion Paramount BDs, it's speculated Paramount's La Dolce Vita has a digital code. That suggests Paramount now controls digital/streaming rights from Criterion.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I've officially gone apeshit!

On a whim, I drove down to my local Barnes & Noble (literally 1.2 miles from my apartment - took 6 minutes to drive there) and lo and behold I noticed 1 DVD and 2 blu-ray copies of Rosemary's Baby, 1 DVD of Harold and Maude, and 1 DVD of La Dolce Vita. I bought all of them on my credit card! (about $153 after 10% off $170). I'm hoping to hold on to these for a year or so and then try and sell them on Ebay when they're scarcer for under $100 each to make a bit of a profit.

What a score!

You need to also factor in the fuel costs of driving down and back.
