It's just a different shrinkwrap they use for those 3 disc sets, the silver sticker is for 4K (going from memory.) Still brand new.

Strange. That region B disc really makes no sense to have also gone bad, maybe they made a batch at the Mexico plant... Or the other way around. Maybe they used the same supplier for the coating... Either way, I've contacted criterion, maybe they know something.

Do you store these outside of their original cases?

I haven't heard of any bronzing issues with 4K discs at all. I feel it's a bit strange that both BD and 4K discs would bronze at the same time since they're obviously completely different formats. All of this to me suggests it's some sort of local issue.

It is the same technology, a 4K disc is just a blu-ray disc with more storage per layer (33GB per layer for 4K and 25GB per layer for BD).

It's too early for 4K discs to be bronzing, unless they were really poorly made. It seems most Blu-rays which have been reported to bronze/die so far have been made between 2007-2011.

I was just checking online because Demon Pond "could" possibly come from Radiance in the UK, but noticed it's not streaming on the Criterion Channel unless I'm missing it? Either way, really hope this gets a release from Criterion soon.

I hope you’re friends with a farmer. If not, you should be.

I'm hoping to see "Trouble in Paradise" (1932) and "Z" (1969) among the May releases, been waiting for these ones for a long time. I know Criterion is rumored to have the rights to "Trouble in Paradise", not sure what is the situation regarding "Z" - specially considering it was never released on blu either on the US or UK, which I find pretty odd.

"Marked Woman" (1937) is another one I've been waiting for, but I think there's a bigger chance that it will be released by the Warner Archive.

Lots of labels releasing Japanese films right now...Shinobi No Mono announced today, the Toei Toku set two days ago. Good times, except Criterion still holds a lot of the holy grail titles. Probably jinxing everything, but really hope we get something Japanese tomorrow, but I figure we'll probably get an upgrade to The Player or two other titles that actually have really nice Blu-rays.

If Criterion would release Charlie Kaufman's I'mThinking of Ending Things, that would be very nice.

Wasn't sure where to post this, but Steven C. Smith, who has produced many bonus features including the new featurettes on the recent release of His Girl Friday, indicated on the Extras podcast that if you like His Girl Friday there's more like it on the way this year.

Not sure if this would be out of the Columbia library (maybe the George Stevens-Jean Arthur collaborations from Criterion or 4k releases of The Awful Truth or You Can't Take It With You in the next Columbia Classics Volume) or from another studio.

I'd be shocked if The Talk of the Town wasn't with Criterion.

Forgot to mention that I checked my copy of Tampopo and there was no bronzing and worked fine. Fine film, and really hope we get more of Juzo Itami's films on Blu-ray soon.

Don't know if anyone has made these predictions yet but I have a feeling either tomorrow of sometime this year we will get announcements for Farewell My Concubine and Gentleman Prefer Blondes.
The former has already gotten a 4k restoration and I'd be shocked if Criterion didn't pick it up. The ladder has been getting the rounds on the channel a lot (They keep streaming it, taking it off, and then back again) so I imagine that means something. (Unless of course I'm mislead which correct me If I am).
