Anybody grabbing Diabolique this week? It's in my Goldbox for $25.60 and I'm trying to decide if I think it's worth that much to own... I saw this once several years back and don't remember it too well. I'm a tad surprised to see I rated it as low as a 6/10 on my IMDB account at the time...

You're looking at the wrong one. Look at 1955.

I think you're mistaken about something but I'm not sure what. I am aware of the age of the film about which I'm talking, though.

I think he read your quote as saying that the film is rated 6/10 overall on IMDB..... Not just your personal score of the movie

Ah, now I was not aware of the existence of the remake.

The more I think on it, the farther I think I'm leaning toward purchasing Diabolique. An enjoyable film that I've seen compared to Charade in this thread (by way of Hitchcock) but certainly spookier. I think it's the kind of movie that I need to rewatch again anyway.

Also, interesting that you guys keep tabs on which decades are represented in your collections. Personally, I try to own one film from the 1930s-1970s for every two films that I own from the last 30 years. I'm not strict about it or anything; I just try to make sure that I'm still adding new classics to my Blu-Ray collection on a fairly routine basis (which is getting easier and easier nowadays ).

I watched Blow Out tonight. Great flick. Travolta was great in this. What happened to him lately, he used to be great. Not no more...

I also watched Blow Out today. Funny how 30 years ago people used to smoke inside hospitals.

He was never great but he had some above average moments. Saturday Night Fever, Grease, Carrie, Urban Cowboy, The General's Daughter, Broken Arrow - those were all pretty solid.

A lot of people would add Pulp Fiction...I'm not so sure I'm one of them.

Lets not forget Pulp Fiction, Face/Off, Boy in the plastic bubble, Get Shorty, Thin Red Line, Generals Daughter, and Bolt. All respectable roles at least.

And I probably shouldn't admit this on a public forum, but really liked "From Paris With Love" as well. Sure, it's big, dumb, and loud but its also a lot of fun. Travolta's WAY over the top performance in there had me laughing all the way.

I mean Broken Arrow was pretty awesome, so.....

But his early years was pretty much Disco's Joe Dallesandro (well, a PG version and nowhere near the Legend that is Joe), and after he did things here and there to branch out, but nothing to call him "Great" for. Campy fun, yes.

And Olivia Newton John is the reason I would watch Grease again. I even sit through Xanadu before.

I had no trouble (in fact I rather enjoyed) blind-buying Kes, White Material, most America Lost and Found and The Leopard a couple weeks ago but a $28 blind buy seems like madness, I tell you, madness.

God I could save a lot of money if I ever figure me out.

Everyone seems to forget Primary Colors. He was perfectly cast for that role. Easily his most overlooked performance. In recent years he's been garbage though.

Good call on Primary Colors. Emma Thompson was really good too.

Either way you spent more money on blind-buying than I did.
