I think they are some of the nicest and sturdiest cases in my collection. I like how nice they all look in a row too. I have never cared for the cheap looking blue plastic cases of any type.
Criterion's inserts are fantastic. Most other studios/companies don't have any inserts, much less the wealth of infomation that Criterion includes. Primo!

I'm going to have to be in a very particular frame of mind to revisit any of his post-The Birds offerings and that would likely be the case even if there weren't so many genuine classics in the same freaking box.
Alfred Hitchcock (and many other directors) share the same plight as rock bands.

Just a random example, but, when I'm in the mood to listen to Van Halen, I will rarely, if ever, listen to A Different Kind of Truth (2012), and, instead, go for the true gems, such as Van Halen (self-titled debut album), Women and Children First, Fair Warning, 1984, or even 5150.

99% of the time, I'll go for the earlier Hitchcock films in the box set instead of going for Family Plot, but that movie still hits the spot on the rare occasion that I do want to revisit it, and I'm glad that it's there.

Okay, it was Frenzy. I get those two mixed up because the last time I saw them was way back in high school. Was Frenzy the first Hitchcock to feature full nudity? I know one of those had some dirty scenes.

Well, you have 3 choices...

1) Get over the obsession with how a movie looks on the shelf;
2) Don't buy it;
3) Make a custom cover, or pay someone to make one for you.

La Femme Nikita was released in 1990, and it hit the indie theaters here in Atlanta shortly after, where it stayed for a long while. It was a huge counter-culture thing during the early 1990s, and it rocked out independent cinema in the same way that the Three Colors Trilogy and Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs did. I always have fond memories of my college days when I watch the movie.
Haha my story completely I must of seen Leon in my HS days a million times... "Send me everyone!!!!" -Epic quote. I've only seen LFN once back then and looking to buy it on blu ray soon to re-try it.

La Femme Nikita is second only to Leon as my favorite Besson film. And Femme Fatale is pretty awesome but, then again, I pretty much love everything De Palma has done.

Stansfield (Gary Oldman) was my favorite character in Léon: The Professional, and I used to cheer at all of his quotes while watching the movie back then. His mannerisms, his facial expressions, and everything else just came together in such a brilliantly evil way.

"I like these calm little moments before the storm. It reminds me of Beethoven. Can you hear it? It's like when you put your head to the grass and you can hear the growin' and you can hear the insects. Do you like Beethoven?"

"Now, I want you to tell me everything you know about Italian food, and don't forget the name of the chef who fixed it for me."

"I take no pleasure in taking life if it's from a person who doesn't care about it."

Hahaha. Stansfield ruled.

Things To Come is brilliant. I should probably re-write my own User Review, since I have an even higher opinion of the movie now that I've had a while to marinate on it. It's such a joy that this movie is now available, because I had been wanting to see it for so long.

I don't know if it was technically full nudity but yeah, it was pretty darned full and there was quite a bit of it (well, by Hitchcock standards, anyway). Some of the violence was of an uglier, more direct nature too.

Yeah, I'm very glad I picked it up. It's awfully good. The supplements are really interesting too.

This.

Alfred Hitchcock's Frenzy is different than his standard fare, but I love how it reminds me of the late 1960s/early 1970s Hammer Studios films. There's suspense and horror mixed in with a fair amount of shameless sleaze. Alfred Hitchcock's ability to arouse sympathy for horrible villains is at its best here, thanks to the brilliant physical comedy sequence in the potato truck, and, as with many of his films, this one excels at showcasing the plight of a wrongly-accused individual.

Use a sledgehammer. Or better yet, maybe a copy of "Time After Time", as chaser.

There's an overhead crane shot of a cemetery that really amazes me, and the attempted vehicular homicide scene on the mountain road is ace.
It's from the same screenwriter as North By Northwest, with the same humor, but with 70's clothes and without the polish of Cary Grant--
Hitchcock had another movie planned, but it's always said he thought this would be his last film, so you can see him teasing with cemeteries and "seances". (The
[Show spoiler]cameo silhouette in the county death records' office
is a nice hint.)

And yes, when it gets put into Great Hitchcock Moments collages, it's either the mountain race or the Karen In Black opening...

And knowing film class, they'll probably want you to analyze the
[Show spoiler]"Wandering out across the street"
scene, which reminds you this's still THE Hitchcock, even in mod 70's clothes.

Well, Sullivan's Travels is coming to Blu Ray in the UK.

https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=12070

I'll be happy with that unless Criterion announce something really soon.

Great, great movie (one of the first classics I ever saw). Lets hope the wait for the CC Edition isn't too long.
