I just watched Mafioso for the first time last night on my Criterion DVD. Wow, what an unexpected surprise! There was not one dull moment in the film. I was able to snatch this now OOP release a few months ago and after having opening it up, I realized it was re-packaged as the shrinkwrap was a different material. You see, the spine still had pieces of the original shrinkwrap glued to it and this new shrinkwrap was not part of that. In any case, I got it for a good deal and I think it was the last item left in the inventory so I don't care if it was used.

Has anyone else seen this film? It really is worth checking out if you can find this DVD that is now out of print.

This discussion has come and passed (sorry about that), but I like your line of thinking here, Owl.

Also, I can't believe that I've seen a film that you haven't but Pale Flower definitely gets a plug from me. I need to revisit it some time, but I really enjoyed it.

I have Columbus Day off of work, so I went to Movie Stop and picked up...

The Big Parade
From Here to Eternity
Stalag 17

I spotted the Criterion title, I Married a Witch, and saw a $16.99 price tag. I was surprised to see the price that low, and I knew that this would be the best chance to get it. I picked it up and added to my stack...
...and then realized that I had picked up the Criterion DVD instead of the Criterion Blu-ray. Argh.
Since the Blu-ray price was $24.99, I left it on the shelf, because I can get it for cheaper in November.

I have a feeling that tomorrow's announcements will be huge. No proof, just a gut feeling.

some good news for me... paid a visit to the library near my office on my lunch break. I can borrow there using my Chicago library card! Just searched their database and 'criterion collection' yielded 574 results. Not all of those are blu-ray, but at least I can catch up a bit. Used to live in this neighborhood and this library is the best around! I salivated a bit when I walked in and saw their movie collection. Looks like the days of giving Redbox and Amazon Instant Video my $$ are over!

I read in another thread that Criterion has Foreign Correspondent, Sabotage, Secret Agent, and Young and Innocent.

These showed up on Criterion Hulu this past year...
[Show spoiler]
