Fans of this film should be very pleased with the technical presentation. The film looks very good on Blu-ray after the 2K resto. More importantly, the audio is dramatically improved. (Watch the ceremony where Washizu and Miki are rewarded).

My holiday viewing has changed only because I've been sick as a dog. The past day and a half it's been Breaking Bad Season 4. I'll watch one episode, close my eyes for 15 minutes then put on another.

Some Like It Hot is my absolute favorite Marilyn Monroe film, although Niagara is a close second.

For third place, I'll go with River of No Return, which I think is criminally underrated with respect to her films. It's a great Western/adventure flick, and Marilyn Monroe in jeans and a flannel shirt steering a raft through whitewater rapids works for me for some odd reason.

Glad you enjoyed it. It really was a pleasant surprise, pretty much coming out of nowhere.

Battle of Britian
The Right Stuff
Apollo 13 (not sure about this one)
For All Mankind

Not sure if I'll split it over days but I like the lineup.
It's been a while, but it might be time to (re-)do my space flight marathon: the three bolded films above plus the HBO mini-series (and my favorite American TV mini-series of all time) From the Earth to the Moon. All in chronological order, of course, so Apollo 13 right before the FtEttM episode about that mission.

Then again, maybe I should wait until the end of February, so I can add Gravity to the mix.

I really want The Asphalt Jungle on Blu-ray. I'm hoping that Warner Bros. will follow up on their amazing 2013 Ultimate Gangsters Collection: Classics box set with a film noir box set in 2014. A Blu-ray replica of the Film Noir Classic Collection DVD box set would rock my world.
I hear that, Owl.

I still need to pick up the couple of Marilyn BDs that weren't in the Forever Marilyn set (Niagara and Bus Stop). I'm surprised that Fox didn't include those in the set either in addition to, or instead of, the two MGM/UA titles.

I feel obliged to mention Nicolas Roeg's Insignificance as an adjunct to any Marilyn collection.

Only one film that is out on Criterion BluRay is on my personal list of the best films from the nineties, but I expect a bunch of you to list Crumb, Three Colors, La Haine and Double Life of Veronique on your top 20s aswell. Vote here:
