If only!

With Foreign Correspondent's release today I think that puts Hitchcock on blu-ray's count to 22 films - about half of his films. This is taking into account US releases only.

Until recently I had Seconds, 39 Steps, and Badlands on my list but I found them new for < half price from seller mediablasters on half.com (and only $1.89 shipping per item if you buy more than one).

If indeed the flash sale does happen, I think I will snag one or more of:

America Lost and Found: The BBS Story
David Lean Directs Noël Coward
Foreign Correspondent/The Lady Vanishes
John Cassavetes: Five Films
The Killing/Paths of Glory
The Night of the Hunter
On the Waterfront
at least one Kurosawa title
at least one Chaplin title

Actually, there are 25 of his films on Blu-ray in the US:

The 14 films in Universal's Masterpiece Collection set

1 from Paramount: To Catch a Thief

3 from Warner: Strangers on a Train, Dial M for Murder, and North by Northwest

3 from MGM: Rebecca, Spellbound, and Notorious

4 from Criterion: The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934), The 39 Steps, The Lady Vanishes, and Foreign Correspondent

Proud to say I have them all! Foreign Correspondent should arrive today. I'm really looking forward to seeing it. I have not watched the film in years!

I own 25 Hitchcock Blu-rays that are Region A playable. Foreign Correspondent will make it 26.

In addition to the ones that have been listed by others, I own the region free Australian Blu-ray of Lifeboat.

I still need Foreign Correspondent and Dial M. I have the old DVD Criterion of Lady Vanishes but I need to upgrade to the new blu.

For non-US, there are two more. Lifeboat is on Masters of Cinema (which I own as well) and The Lodger from Network.

I've got 23 of the 25 domestic releases. I'll pick up FC. holding out on Dial M... not sure why.. probably won't get better than what is out there.

judging them all together, I'm disappointed w/ the PQ on the Hitch discs.. It isn't just Universal who botched some of them up. I actually thought that Notorious looked worse than Spellbound and The 39 Steps also could have used a bit more TLC.

As mentioned before, though, Shadow of a Doubt looks awesome as does Saboteur. I was pleased w/ the transfer for Vertigo. A few of them I have yet to see on blu.

I'm the exact same... It never (rarely?) goes less than 29.99, presumably b/c it's 3-D, and I hate to pay seemingly full price. But for whatever reason I have no problem buying 6 movies for $5 each that I don't collectively like as much as Dial M. It doesn't make any sense...

Yeah. It's been hit and miss. The only real out and out disaster was Marnie. The Man Who Knew Too Much also could do with a restoration. Dial M For Murder looks great! Some barked about the 3D but it's a pretty accurate transfer of what Hitchcock intended. Here's some interesting reading about the film:

Warner Brothers is sitting on Stage Fright, The Wrong Man and I Confess. Those need to be issued on blu-ray.

The Paradine Case is owned by MGM?

I bought Foreign Correspondent from Barnes & Noble during lunch. The digipak is in perfect condition, and it's quite beautiful. I'm really looking forward to watching this tonight when I get home from the gym.

Here's to Blu-ray # 26 in my formidable Hitchcock collection.
