Me too haha, thought we were breaching forum guidelines for a bit there. I'd never heard that the drum thing was called a rim shot. The more you know...

Good Lord, we need a decent Blu-ray edition of that movie right now.

Thumbs up

B&N has Persona at 20% off online. Does anyone know if it's on sale in store as well? I can't wait any longer!

Does anyone think that "The Hidden Fortress" will available for 50% off at amazon.com at some point?
I seem to remember that all Criterion usually hit 50% off on amazon.
Would be grateful for a response.

I picked up The Hidden Fortress and The 400 Blows for 20% off in the store at Barnes & Noble over the past week. I think that all of the newer Criterion releases have the 20% off sticker in the store right now. Adding that to my membership discount was quite nice.

How close does Throne of blood stay to Macbeth? is it a realllllly subtle theme or is it quite obvious?

I've been watching and waiting for that to happen for about 8 months now with no luck. They had a one day flash sale where about 10 titles were priced really well. That was like a month ago. If you use the price tracking tool on this site, you can see that historically the prices for just about all 39.95 titles have been $17.99 (at some point in time.) I've been waiting for that day to happen again and I'm no longer holding my breath. I used to think that Amazon was the no-brainer way to go. Not so much any more.

Great! I'll stop by today. I usually just wait for the 50% off sales, but Persona is one of my favorite films of all time. I don't want to wait til July!

I vividly remember Tower Records - however i was mainly there to buy chart toppers like Blink 182, Avril Lavigne, Coldplay... and those little music cassettes are so unforgettable, Side A, Side B... come 2014... what the hell! just download the single off iTunes... Sad

Hey, was that the Virgin Megastore @ Sunset Blvd? ... It's been a year since i last visited Amoeba - The guys there really have good taste in movies/music, one of them recommended 'Wings of Desire'... so i'll make sure to get that Criterion soon.

Thought you might find this interesting.

According to LaserMovies @ DVDTalk Forum - Barnes & Noble last night sent out new 20% off coupons that can be used online/in-stores...

So you can combine the coupon + 10% members discount and get it for about 23.04 (pre-tax).

As someone who doesn't religiously collect Criterion films (a quick glance reveals I have eight) I didn't realise The Night of the Hunter's packaging was thought to be shoddy. Mine looks to be fine so perhaps I'm lucky; what specifically seems to be the problem with a lot of them? I'm just interested, really. One of my eight titles is Salò, and I found the packaging far too cramped for the booklet, but this didn't seem to affect Hunter.

Hunh. I didn't get one. It's actually been quite a while since I've gotten an emailing from them. I'll have to see what's up.

TNOTH is the only digipack Criterion I have that has an issue. The slipcase doesn't seem as sturdy as the others, and so the "open" spine easily bulged out when too much pressure was put on it, thereby slightly creasing the spine.
