Has Criterion released any animation on any format before? They really should... there is a ton of great animation out there that deserves an audience. Mind Game from Masaaki Yuasa and anything from Satoshi Kon spring to mind immediately as being Criterion-friendly titles. Heck, even The Triplets of Belleville would make a great addition to the collection. I'm sure there is a ton of even more obscure stuff I haven't heard of that would fit the Criterion aesthetic.

They released Akira on laserdisc, but that's the only title I can think of. I really enjoyed Mind Game. It's a shame it still hasn't been released at all in the U.S. Personally, I'd like to see them release Angel's Egg from Mamoru Oshii and Yoshitaka Amano, but I don't see that ever happening.

My wife just informed me that B & N called about an order being in...I'll assume that, that is Sherlock Jr. That would be two days from the release day.

Based on that, I'm hoping that if the BBS set comes out on Tues. 11/23, that if it's shipped to my house from the same warehouse, that I "should" get it by Friday 11/26 (with an extra day for bypassing the store).

Fingers crossed...would be a nice way to continue the long weekend.

Bowie can't act, because he doesn't need to. He's f'n Bowie. I would cast him every movie I would do if I can. Since I wouldn't be in it for acting awards anyways, I can just have him stand there, in all his Bowie-ness.

However, it's something I'll never watch again, so I sold the BD after watching it. I did like Oshima's In the Realm of the Senses and Empire of Passion (too bad there's no BD for the latter), but Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence gets a "meh" from me as well.
Does anyone else find Ryuichi Sakamoto's name strangely hypnotic? Try saying over and over to yourself a couple of times...you won't be able to stop. It's like Tim Curry raising his eyebrows in that way.

also would be the bomb if they could get the rights to the Beatles "Yellow Submarine" also a United Artists film. They should also try to get the rights to "Let It Be" (also United Artists) since no other company is willing to release it. (there's rumours that the Beatles themselves don't want Let It Be ever to released again IN ANY FORMAT, not sure if that's true though)

I've heard Brad Pitt wants to make a Chilean miners movie.

I thought: hasn't that already been done, kind of (Ace in the Hole).

I thought he was good in Labyrinth, but pretty aweful in everything else I've seen him in.

Yeah, could be. As opposed to amazon, who seems to have a vendetta against me and anything they ship that is made of cardboard, and no change when I give them another shot (most recently, Bridge On The River Kwai ).

Default Strange......

I guess it wasn't my usual UPS driver today.....

I got my coffee grinder (since I know you're on the edge of your seats) this morning.... but just now, I got my discs from the B&N sale, and here's what I got: (not what you think CG)

I got one box.... medium/small size... somewhat heavy.... Another one, about same size, but much lighter, and two rather large, rather heavy boxes....

All four of these boxes were in a large clear plastic bag to protect them from water (it rained earlier in the day)

I open the first one, and as suspected it's 6 BDs.....
I open one of the very large ones, and as suspected, it's one of the AK-100 sets.... I quickly open the other one, and sure enough it's the other AK-100 set.....

Then there was the light-weight one..... Being an idiot, I didn't look at the box itself, and tore into it with my kitchen knife that I used to open the others.... I see a small little box inside, and about 6 or 7 pamphlets/coupons etc..... and I think "Oh great.... B&N gave me some coupons for next time that I probably won't use because Amazon is cheaper, etc"

NOPE... I soon realize, that not only are they coupons for "ThinkGeek.com" the box they came in said "Thinkgeek.com" and I thought.... "What did I order from there???" Certainly my wife wouldn't order anything from there.....

DOH! I opened someone else's package!!! It was addressed to the same house number, but a street over from me..... Of course google couldn't find this person via name/address so I can't call her..... and it's only a street over, so once my youngest wakes up from her nap, I guess I gotta go give her the box, and apologize for savagely tearing half the top off when I opened it

It's an "LED Binary Wrist-Watch" I guess it's a good thing that it's not a sex toy, or she'd never get it back out of avoidance of an awkward situation (o.k. I admit, I'd just want to keep the sex toy)

Anyone know of any other sites to track down a phone number rather than 411.com ? "Zabbasearch" is coming back with errors for some reason.

Do phone books still exist? I honestly don't know if they do or not. Havn't used or seen one in years. I believe a lot of cities/regions just did away with them sort of like how phone booths are almost non-existant these days.

According to the county auditor's website, the address doesn't exist (at least for tax purposes) so that may explain some of the issues....

Here name, plus city via google only brings up a "Linked-in" page, with no activity or way to contact her....

Guess I have to go knock on a door, if in fact a house exists at that address

sorry... back on topic!
