Criterion is doing alright and has released a treasure of films on blu-ray. They could dip into UHD but that's a topic for another thread. Let's hope they never consult the jack sheet.

I'm gonna get Cold War at some point (along with Ida), but this is the last hurrah of upgrading available Criterion DVDs to Blu-ray (outside of Kurosawa because that boxset is definitely, most assuredly coming, for sure).

Down to 2 (F for Fake and Sweet Smell of Success), and the BN gift card will cover that.

I’m down to 5 to upgrade. Of the ones that have been released.

I've only a few left that I'd want to upgrade.

Pasolini's "Mamma Roma" and John Huston's "Wiseblood" immediately come to mind.

As dvining said, I'd hold off on any Kurosawa's, just in case. I think I already have all of them that are available on BD, anyway.

I keep almost importing Wise Blood & Under the Volcano fromFrance, but I’m not sure of the quality of them. I’d like Criterion to upgrade them too.

Wiseblood would be great. Another Huston I want is Under the Volcano.

My top two upgrades though would be Fires in the Plain and Le Deuxième Souffle. Youth of the Beast would also be nice.

I'd love to upgrade The Third Man, so if Criterion could get around to getting those rights back and just reprinting what they've already done, that'd be great.

Sony is releasing Anatomy of a Murder on 4K in their upcoming Columbia Classics Vol. 2 box set. A standalone release could follow.

As has been said countless times...I just think it would be neat if Criterion got their heads in the 4K game.

Surely would've happened by now if they were going to.

Does anyone own the standalone release of Shame? Does it come with a leaflet or booklet?

For owners of The Story of Temple Drake, does it come with inner artwork?

Thanks!

Hoping we get some upgrades tomorrow. I doubt there will be any Japanese titles, as two months in a row would seem strange in terms of recent output. Crossing my fingers for Under the Volcano.

Possible, but there is already a set coming in September, so I doubt there will be two sets. You never know though.

I'm debating whether or not to go in-store to pick up the Wong Kar-Wai box seeing that so many have had problems with the packaging arriving damaged in the mail. That being said, I really dislike the packaging design for this.

My guess would be July 6th. If I'm recalling correctly, their previous pattern seems to be starting it on the first Tuesday of the month. And it'll probably end on August 2th. I could be wrong, but if so it wouldn't be the first time, and it won't be the last.

Actually it always starts on the first Friday of the month so probably July 2nd.

For the announcements later today, I have a feeling there are going to be 2 solid upgrades from a certain famous director whose name I can't fathom at the moment.

Come on Eisenstein sound years.

Haven't seen a Fassbinder release in a minute either.
