I have the Once Upon trilogy from Eureka but the other 2 films in this series being released by Criterion makes the set very tempting!

In for all 3 UHDs as well as the OUATIC box set. Already have La Strada in the Fellini box set.

I own the original UK set which contains the sixth movie with Jet Li. It seems to be absent here? Its a shame 4 and 5 weren't separate releases.

My bad. The criterion mobile site must not have loaded properly. I only saw 1 through 5 listed. May get this set then!

Pretty good slate, but most excite about the Once Upon a Time in China films. I had those on DVD, and they looked horrible. Was hoping Mank would have beeb released at the same time as Citizen Kane.

Nice to see more Hong Kong films make it to the Criterion Collection. With all the films that Fortune Star has been restoring lately, I'm disappointed that few of them have made it over to North America.

Hopefully Criterion will eventually put out the Jackie Chan films that are on the Criterion Channel.

Ooof this is gonna be an expensive month, but I can’t wait!

Looks like $49.99 is the standard MSRP for a 4k from them, which isn’t bs bad as I was expecting

Called it on the pricing. Really excited for these 4Ks. Didn’t think they’d release 3 at once! Can’t wait to see what’s coming after the others are formally announced.

Is this the first Welles release that Criterion didn’t get a Simon Callow interview?

EDIT: I see that he's not on The Immortal Story of F for Fake either.

Really wish they'd get with the program and have reversible art. That La Strada cover is pretty bad and I'd like another option. When it comes down to it I just want it as a standalone so I'll live.

Also very glad they are doing Blu-ray as well as 4k + Blu-ray.

Did Criterion take influence from the Malcolm X DVD cover?

No, my only concern was being forced to pay more for a 4K edition to get a BD only disc. As I don't have anything 4K.

I was simply going to be a lot more selective in my Criterion purchases if that were the case.

Fortunately, they've handled it in a very sane and decent way, and are offering all of the new titles as stand alone blu rays, as well. On average, it looks to be only about 10 dollars more for the 4K edition (except for Kane), so it's not even breaking the bank for the 4K crowd, either.

Also, as I've mentioned before, Criterion DVDs were $40 when they came out in '98, which is ~US$65-70 in today's dollars. Sure, $40 is nice, but I'm not gonna cry if UHDs are $50. Even $60, while not ideal, would just make me a bit more selective regarding what I buy.

Criterion, c'mon with that Kane cover.

That said, looks like an amazing release overall.
