Grand Illusion, the first Criterion DVD release, would be nice. I know Lionsgate got it, but they also have Uncut Gems.

A24 has Uncut Gems.

True, but wasn't the original Blu-Ray/DVD released or distributed or whatever by Lionsgate Films?

Yeah, but A24 makes the final decision on who releases their films. Lionsgate has nothing to do with the Criterion. Apparently it's pretty hard to get anything licensed from Lionsgate.

First, Hausu, which I forced myself to buy because of how fast it goes out of stock in all the previous sales so I went ahead and bought it, although I was surprised it was still in stock because I didn't order until a half day after the sale officially started. Fun film and very excited to see how this will look on Blu-ray in comparison to the digital streaming on Criterion Channel version that I've seen.

Second, The Naked Island, a film that is one of my favorite films of all time. Still have yet to buy the other Shindo films, including the now-popular Onibaba, which I really do hope to buy eventually. My favorite Shindo film by far and gives me many great memories of my childhood. Didn't know this but apparently my grandfather met Shindo and Otowa (Before they married) long ago and supposedly a picture of it exists. Don't think I'll ever find that photo but I'm still in disbelief that actually happened.
If you ever find that picture, do share.

I'm with you on Hausu. For a couple of years every time I decided to buy it from the B&N or Criterion's Flash Sales it was oos. So this past July when I saw Hausu was available during the B&N sale it went straight into my cart, then added Kuroneko for the two-fer. I already had the MOC Onibaba so didn't have to worry about that one, otherwise it would have been my flash sale purchase, which is also a title every time I wanted it, it was oos...(see below)

Yeah, you had to sweat those out. Since I did small amounts, one for the last Twilight Time and only four for that last 4 for $44, I didn't have that problem.

My flash sale purchase ended up being the one I always complain about as oos when I make up my mind to order it:

Now I only need Short Cuts to complete the Robert Altman BD releases so far from Criterion.

Not true as Criterion is directly licensing Uncut Gems from Lionsgate.

Well in either case, Amores Perros was clearly licensed from Lionsgate.

I don't know what point you're trying to make or if you're just too stubborn to admit that you could be wrong but please stop trying to spread misinformation.

My second order is out for delivery.

My first order, made about 90 seconds before the second, still hasn't shipped.

Criterion hates me and wants me to be sad.

They love you and hate you! That first order probably had something go out of stock by the time the warehouse received the order. Happens a lot. The website and the warehouse stock are not synced in real time. Bit of lag there.

It's a struggle to deal with a fact so damaging to one's own ego. My id is refusing the information.
