Perhaps he needs to talk to whomever at Disney licensed them Rebecca, Notorious & (reportedly) Spellbound. ABC acquired them from David O. Selznick's estate a long time ago; Disney has owned them since it bought ABC, but it has always licensed them out to others as Hitchcock doesn't fit well with the usual Disney fare. (Their first BDs -- the only one thus far of Spellbound -- were from MGM; they had at least one prior run at Criterion on DVD.) I have a sneaking suspicion they will ultimately be folded into the 20th Century Studios catalog, especially since I know Selznick re-released Rebecca thru Fox back in the 1950's.

Criterion needs to give us Good Time (2017).

My son and I are watching a classic. And, wow, does it look great on the new 4K OLED screen. It’s never looked better. It’s like watching it for the first time.

I’m really curious about Tokyo Trial, which I doubt would ever get a solo release, but his whole filmography is one I want to explore in some high definition!

Criterion has a showcase selection of Pier Paolo Pasolini's films on the Criterion Channel for March, and I just realized that this year is his centennial.
I know he isn't really popular enough to warrant a Bergman or Fellini sized big box for his 100th, but maybe we'll at least see something more from him in the physical collection sometime this year. I'd love maybe a small box of two or three films, anyway. |

Even if they do them individually I’d still buy them. If we can’t get a set I hope we at least get Samurai Rebellion. A classic!

This sounds like a very similar (indeed, identical) story to what you might hear from every other boutique label trying to deal with larger studios. I've heard the heads at Indicator talk about this very sort of thing dealing with Sony, where they had one primary contact whose position was erased and whose duties were delineated across departments to the point where there is no specialization anymore. Unfortunately this is just another one of the roadblocks at this stage of physical media as it becomes even less and less of interest to the major studios.

It's never gonna happen now that Disney owns the movies, but I always dreamed of a Criterion release of A New Hope. Like, at least when Fox owned it, it has a sliver of a chance, but no way does Disney let that happen now. But I like to think Criterion could do that film, or films if they did the trilogy, justice. I know Criterion doesn't normally focus on the kinds of movies that Star Wars is, and I totally get that. I guess this is just me feeling those movies are important enough that I felt if any big budget sci-fi blockbuster deserved it, I feel it would be Star Wars.
