I bought the dvd of Trouble in Paradise during the last flash sale so chances of an upgrade went up a bit.

Jesus, I haven't even thought about Toys in at least a decade, but now that you've brought it up I'm desperate for a blu ray version.

I believe those are under 20 Century Pictures / Disney control, so not very likely...

With French actress Delphine Seyrig finally get the recognition she deserves with a collection of works on the Criterion Channel, I hope this is an indication that Criterion has her collaborations with Marguerite Duras and Ulrike Ottinger under the way. All three have done some terrific films.

Although it has been slated to start streaming next month, I highly encourage people to watch Ulrike Ottinger's Johanna d'Arc of Mongolia (1989). Duras' India Song (1975) is another great one, but its slow, pacing nature has been a common source of criticism for many who have seen it already (Which I don't think is a bad thing IMHO).

Fingers crossed for a much-belated Blu upgrade of Jacque Becker's jailbreak masterpiece Le Trou, which Kino Lorber Insider confirmed last week that Criterion still has (along with the director's Belle Époque gangster melodrama Casque d'Or), hopefully with a better encoding than the 2017 UK Studio Canal release.

I'd like those too, especially Casque d'Or.

Do what I did and get hold of the 50th anniversary Studiocanal blu of Welles' The Trial in preparation for an eventual blu release of After Hours. I think it's an inspiration and a companion-piece.

People look at me strangely when I reply my favorite Scorsese is After Hours.

Becker deserves all the respect in the world for the mighty triptych of those 2 + Touchez Pas Au Grisbi.

Per the Criterion website, the 1998 feature-length documentary, Divine Trash, has been added to the supplemental package for Pink Flamingos.
