I'd love his early trilogy (Cruel Story of Youth, The Sun's Burial, Night and Fog in Japan).

Yeah, Oshima seems to be another director who has gone MIA with Criterion. They had hinted at releasing Boy in one of their end of the year teases, but then it never happened. Wish they would release some of their Hideo Gosha titles.

I imported a nice double feature blu ray pack from Australia that had "In the Realm of the Senses" and "Empire of Passion" in it.

I already have the Criterion DVDs of both, plus the Criterion blu ray of "Senses". I mainly imported for the different features and to mainly finally get "Empire" on blu ray. Both look and sound quite nice on that release.

Yeah, surprised they haven't released Empire of Passion on Blu. I actually thought it had a Criterion Blu-ray, but then it turned out it didn't. Maybe one day, but that's one of my favorite of his films.

Did Criterion put out a cartoon yet for next year's releases yet.. or end of next month?

I don't think they've done any of the hint cartoons since Jason Polan passed.

I wonder what’s going on with their dvd of La Bete Humaine? I check its status during these 50% off sales and it always has that Currently Unavailable tag. I know that usually means it’s oos between pressings but this has been ongoing for quite a while.

I could hope for it, along with the Dickens by Lean duo, but they seem to be upgrading Blu to UHD more than DVD to Blu currently.

I'm hoping for a DVD upgrade for the February announcement. Two movies I'd love to see get upgrades are The Most Dangerous Game and Divorce, Italian Style.

Also Criterion might release the set on uhd though the colors will likely be yellow. At least the compression should be better than the uk set, which had frustrating pixelization: https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&...185441&i=0&l=0 look at the sky!

On a broader note, it's always killed me how much people want to be the first to post news or updates on here.

Hell, I've even grown to semi-admire some users' steadfast devotion to rushing it out there like their lives depended on it.
