Hmm, I guess there really isn't any good 4K movies from Criterion I could buy. Not many selections to begin with and Lost Highway and Thelma & Louise seemed to strike me as the best ones of the bunch, aside from Mulholland Drive which I already bought a couple of weeks ago.

Want to take advantage of B&N's 50% off sale and am hoping to get one more 4K blind buy, but can't decide.
Like Revolver above says, they're so different. Personally, I'd go for Thelma and Louise though. Great filmmaking all around that holds up really well.

Lost Highway is a mixed bag. It used to be a favorite (I even saw it in theaters at age 8), but in the recent years, I don't feel like it's aged particularly well for me. It's sometimes crazy and weird for the sake of being crazy and weird. It also is pretty male gaze-y. But nevertheless, it's an interesting film and one of my favorite of Lynch's (who I admit is not a favorite filmmaker of mine).

On the other hand, Ridley Scott is a great and pretty consistent filmmaker who has proven he can make films of any genre.

As much as I love Videodrome and DC, if after the pulmonary I’ve been having for the last 24 hours they don’t drop Freaks or at least some Browning films, I’m gonna be pretty pissed.

If the covers aren’t done, just put a “cover not done” graphic up there for now. I doubt an empty cover for Freaks for a couple days will ruffle any feathers.

Citizen Kane, Double Indemnity, Uncut Gems, WALL-E, Raging Bull, Mildred Pierce, The Red Shoes, After Hours, and of course the three you mentioned. Plus The Princess Bride and The Trial are coming in September.

Don't Look Now was released on 4K in 2019. Videodrome was released on 4K at the beginning of this year.

It's nice they're coming, but also a bit underwhelming.

I miss the days when Criterion was paving the way forward. Now they're lucky if they arrive at the party before it's over.

If you've already seen and liked a good number of other Lynch films, then I'd say go ahead with Lost Highway. If Lynch hasn't really been your "thing", then Thelma & Louise is a kind of crowd-pleaser that seems hard not to like to some degree.

What pages do we have to check for this, besides the Blu-ray.com home page and the Criterion website?

I remember when Arrow announced Videodrome, they basically said if Criterion wants to do their own 4K they'll have to do their own restoration. I wonder if that is indeed the case, or if Criterion are actually licensing Arrow's restoration here.

That's like with me, I was waiting a couple decades for Criterion to release "The Trial". Finally, SC released it last November. I bought theirs, watched it, watched all the features, and now, lo and behold....

If it is, and Videodrome and DLN are 2 of the 4K titles this month, that's gonna be a HUGE letdown.

Or at the least the other titles better rock. If it’s DLN 4K, Videodrome 4K, and Freaks then I don’t want to hear a peep.

If it’s DLN, Videodrome, and some other eggs, fire away.

One website lists Messiah Of Evil Blu-ray from Radiance Films, but I don’t think that counts for anything.

Come on Criterion...

Radiance couldn't do a 4K with the availible best elements I believe, so it's Blu only.

They must be heavy readers of this forum, because that's all anybody chirps about anymore is 4k upgrades of, for the most part, quality Blu-rays.

Ah well, saves me money.

Meanwhile, there's a bevy of films still exclusive to DVD, or not even on home video for that matter, that could benefit from their efforts.

Thanks for the heads up, I misread the OP. Messiah Of Evil is a standard Blu.
