Interesting. I mean everyone chooses why they like films for different reasons. I put the ability to evoke emotions pretty high on the list, and replay value pretty low.

I understand that. I do. But whenever a film evokes emotions that I don't want to feel again, that's the line for me. There are all kinds of emotions that a film can evoke, but Antichrist got a little too personal for me. In all honesty, it made me feel too vulnerable to ever see it again.

I don't have to. I already saw the worst thing ever made by a human, and that thing, is Armageddon.

I feel the same way. One movie that comes to mind is A Clockwork Orange. I enjoyed the movie but the Ludovico scene just made me cringe and I don't think I'd want to see it again.

I love that movie, but I know exactly what you mean. It's funny because oddly enough, I can stomach that film, but can't ever watch Antichrist again. I can watch Schindler's List. I think it's a phenomenal film, but my wife can't watch it again. She doesn't hate it, but she gets too emotional.

BTW, you know that scene had to be awkward to film!

Extreme exaggeration. Bay is good at what he does, that cannot be denied. What he "does" just isn't everyones cup of tea. He makes popcorn movies. He isn't trying to melt your mind or provoke deep thoughts so it is unfair to fault him for not doing so.

I don't care. Pearl Harbor, Armageddon, The Island, Bad Boys, the Transformers movies?!? Good god. Yes, you can make popcorn movies, but at least make them good! Not to mention he produces the worst kind of filth on the film market.

It's weird but I can handle scenes of graphic violence but when it comes to anything with the eyes, it just makes me weird to my stomach. Awkward is putting it mildly, I read that Mcdowell actually injured his eyes from them.

Agreed. The Dark Knight was a popcorn movie and it was pretty good.

Interestingly, this is why I think it should be part of The Criterion Collection. Just so future archeologists can see all the great films and then go "Oh yeah, this was also part of American film history. Just FYI"

I view The Criterion Collection as a film school. An education on film. We should at least acknowledge the existence of such films. Should Criterion release more like this? Dear Heavens no. But a single representative of cash grab shit movies should be part of any well rounded education.

Yup, that was one big turd, that one was. And I actually do like Armageddon and The Rock. Are they great movies, no of course not, but what's wrong with having a little fun once in a while?
